JAMMU:: The University of Jammu, under the leadership of Vice Chancellor Prof. Umesh Rai, inaugurated a new building for the Design-Your-Degree Program today. Addressing the gathering, Prof. Rai reaffirmed the university’s commitment to delivering high-quality education through strategic planning and effective execution. He acknowledged the pivotal role of Prof. Dinesh Singh, Vice-Chairman of the JK Higher Education Council, in conceptualizing the program and announced plans to introduce an Undergraduate program at the University of Jammu modeled on the Design-Your-Degree initiative. He also extended his appreciation to Prof. Alka Sharma, Director, SIIEDC, Prof. Sadaf Shah, Associate Director, SIIEDC, and the mentors for their invaluable guidance and support in shaping the program.

The event commenced with a welcome address by Prof. Alka Sharma, who expressed gratitude to all contributors and emphasized how the new infrastructure would enhance learning spaces, fostering an innovative and flexible academic environment in alignment with the program’s vision. Prof. Anju Bhasin, Dean Academic Affairs, underscored the significance of robust infrastructure and resources in achieving academic excellence and encouraged students to become ambassadors for their course, department, and university.

Prof. Meena Sharma, Dean, Planning and Development, hailed the inauguration as a milestone in the university’s academic and institutional growth. She also announced plans for an Innovation Tower to further support students and faculty. Prof. Naresh Padha, Department of Physics, commended the university’s efforts in expanding infrastructure and highlighted the program’s focus on Innovation, Incubation, and Startups.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Shallu Sehgal, while the proceedings were conducted by Dr. Pallavi Sachdeva. Among others present on the occasion included Prof. K.S. Charak, Prof. Anil Gupta, Dr. Jatinder Manhas, Dr. Sandeep Arya, Dr. Sunil Kumar, Dr. Sandeep Singh, Dr. Chinmoyee Maharana, Prof. Sarika Manhas, Dr. Ripu Daman Parihar, Dr. Manish Kumar, and Prof. Garima Gupta.
