UDHAMPUR: Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Saloni Rai today conducted an on-site inspection of the ongoing widening works on the National Highway stretch from Slathia Chowk to Domail being executed by the 35 BRTF under Phase I of the project. Superintending Engineer S.K Singh, Commandant 35 BRTF, briefed the DC on the current status of the works. During the inspection, the DC issued a series of directions to the executing agencies, emphasizing the need to accelerate construction to meet the set deadlines.
Highlighting the importance of the project, the DC underlined its role in facilitating smoother transportation, enhancing local businesses and improving residents' access to essential services. She stressed the enforcement of necessary measures to ensure the project's timely completion and interacted with local residents to address their concerns.
The DC also emphasized the need for interdepartmental coordination and directed officers to resolve any arising issues promptly. She urged the executing agencies to expedite the work to achieve project milestones within the stipulated time frame. The successful completion of the project is expected to significantly reduce traffic congestion between Slathia Chowk and Domail, providing major relief to commuters on the NH. Chief Executive Officer Municipality and Tehsildar Udhampur were instructed to initiate an anti-encroachment drive in the city to alleviate traffic congestion and streamline vehicular movement.
