SHOPIAN: A District level Advisory Committee (DLAC) meeting on food safety was held today here at Mini-Secretariat under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Shishir Gupta. Member Secretary, Assistant Commissioner Food Safety briefed the chair regarding the action taken report on the previous meeting.
A threadbare discussion was held on the importance of food safety during the meeting. DC issued directions with regard to regular conduct of inspection of food business operators including Bakery Units, Hotels and restaurants and stressed on intensifying inspections. DC further directed to ensure that quality food is being provided to the students during the Mid-day-Meals and poshan Centers.
Strict penal action be taken against the violations in order to put a strong deterrent against the illegal food practices. Besides, ADC, Dr. Zakir Hussain Faaz, who is also Adjudicating Officer Food Safety and Standards Act, the meeting was attended by Chief Medical Officer, Chief Agriculture Officer, Chief Horticulture Officer, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, Assistant Director FCS&CA, CDPO and other concerned attended the meeting.
