JAMMU: Haq Insaaf Council demands Judicial Probe into Custodial torture leading to the death and Shooting Incident on Srinagar-Baramulla HighwayJammu//-The Haq Insaaf Council, led by its Chairman, Advocate Zeshan Syed, has expressed deep concern over two tragic incidents that have shocked the people of Jammu and Kashmir. The Council demands an impartial judicial inquiry by a sitting High Court Judge to ensure justice is served and accountability is established.
The first incident involves the custodial torture of Makhan Din, a resident of Billawar, Kathua. In a video recorded before his death, Makhan Din alleged severe torture in police custody. The circumstances surrounding his death point to a grave violation of human rights.
The second incident occurred on the Srinagar-Baramulla Highway, where a truck driver lost his life. Army personnel attempted to stop the vehicle, and when the driver did not halt, shots were fired to deflate the tyres. Tragically,leading to the death of the driver. Chairman Advocate Zeshan Syed stated, "Both incidents are deeply unfortunate and highlight the urgent need for accountability.
Such events not only undermine public trust in institutions but also threaten the fragile peace in Jammu and Kashmir. Justice must be delivered swiftly and transparently." The Haq Insaaf Council urges the Union Home Minister and the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir to intervene and ensure an independent and transparent investigation under the supervision of a sitting High Court Judge.
The Council demands the immediate Judicial Inquiry an independent probe led by a sitting High Court Judge to investigate both incidents thoroughly,suspension of officials involved in both cases pending investigation, Adequate financial and legal support for the families of the victims and Regular public updates on the progress of the investigations.
The Haq Insaaf Council appeals to the people of Jammu and Kashmir to remain calm and united, resisting any attempts to exploit these tragedies for divisive purposes. The Council reaffirms its commitment to justice, accountability, and safeguarding the rights of all citizens.
