SHOPIAN: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Shishir Gupta today inaugurated a two-day seminar on bee-keeping at Meeting Hall, Mini-Secretariat, which is being organised by the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Shopian. The Seminar highlighted the significance of Bee-keeping  in enhancing agricultural productivity through pollination besides offering additional income sources such as honey, wax and breeding stock.

Speaking on the occasion, DC urged concerned officers to ensure the  benefits of all the schemes for apiculture development including HADP reach to  the potential farmers. He also assured full support for initiatives that encourage sustainable apiculture and rural entrepreneurship.

Experts on the occasion, emphasized on creating awareness and providing training in bee-keeping to youth & farmers for  sustainable agriculture and economic development. ADDC, Dr. Nasir Ahmed Lone, CAO, Farooq Ahmad, KVK head, Zaffar Ahmed, concerned officers and officials besides  progressive farmers attended the programme.
