The Survival Fight of JK Monitor: For 16 years, JK Monitor has chronicled Jammu and Kashmir with integrity. Since 2010, I have steered its newsroom alongside our visionary Founding Chairman, Dr. Priya Ranjan (IIT Kharagpur alumnus, University of Maryland Ph.D.). His tragic demise in October 2026 left a severe financial and operational vacuum. Without urgent support, our 24/7 news portal risks permanently shutting down after November 2026, remaining only as a static digital archive. • Purkhoo Camp meeting outlines welfare drive; Police action against “Chitta” Kingpin applauded

JAMMU: Shiv Sena Hindustan’s Jammu & Kashmir unit convened a meeting at Purkhoo Camp under the chairmanship of party president Pandit Rajesh Kesri, where a comprehensive grassroots outreach program was finalized to assist citizens with essential welfare documentation.

As part of the initiative, the party announced plans to organize village-level camps aimed at facilitating ration card corrections, the inclusion of new family members, especially children, labor card enrollment, and linking Aadhaar numbers with mobile phones. The initiative is intended to ease access to various central and state welfare schemes.

Addressing party workers and volunteers, Pandit Rajesh Kesri emphasized that many people, particularly in rural and economically weaker sections, face difficulties in completing documentation due to long queues and procedural hurdles at government offices. He stated that the proposed camps would bring these services directly to the people’s doorstep, ensuring that eligible beneficiaries are not deprived of government schemes due to technical or administrative barriers.

He further noted that the campaign would focus on creating awareness among the masses about the importance of proper documentation, which is often a prerequisite for obtaining benefits under social welfare programs. The party leadership urged its cadres to actively engage with local communities and ensure maximum participation in the camps.

During the meeting, Kesri also lauded the Jammu Police for their recent action leading to the arrest of alleged narcotics dealer Luv Gujjar, who had reportedly been evading law enforcement agencies for a considerable period. Describing drug abuse as a serious threat to society, he remarked that such action is crucial to safeguard the youth from the menace of narcotics.

He specifically appreciated the efforts of SSP Jammu, SP Headquarters, SDPO Gurmeet Singh, and SHO Mira Sahib Sardar Jitender Singh for successfully executing the operation. He termed the accused as a “silent destroyer of youth,” adding that strict action against drug peddlers sends a strong message and helps restore public confidence in law enforcement.Kesri also acknowledged the efforts of party members who continued to raise the issue despite facing challenges and pressures, stating that their persistence contributed to keeping the matter in public focus.

The meeting witnessed the participation of several party functionaries and local volunteers, including Balwant Fauji, Raj Kumar, Sanjeev Sharma, Ashok Kumar, Vinod Kumar, Saurabh, Vicky Kumar, Sanjay Kumar, Mohini Sharma, and Anu Kumari, along with a large number of grassroots workers. The session concluded with a resolve to intensify public outreach and continue working towards both social welfare facilitation and awareness against drug abuse across the region.
