JAMMU: Under the dynamic leadership of the Honourable Vice Chancellor, Professor Sanjeev Jain, the Department of English at the Central University of Jammu (CUJ) organized a commemorative writing series celebrating female authors and their literary contributions. This initiative aimed to recognize and reflect on the profound impact of women writers on literature and society, acknowledging their role in shaping intellectual and cultural discourse.

As part of this initiative, the department conducted a literary discussion-cum-performance that explored the intersections of Western and Indian literary thought, with a particular focus on feminist writers. Faculty members and students actively engaged in the discussions, sharing their perspectives on the significance of women's literary contributions. Adding a creative dimension to the event, students also enacted a play that captivated the audience with its engaging narrative and compelling performances. Their enactment brought the themes of feminist literature to life, making the session both insightful and entertaining.

Dr. K. Rajesh, Head of the Department of English and Convenor of the event, emphasized the importance of character building and time management in both life and academia. Faculty members, including Dr. Neena Gupta, Dr. Raj Thakur, Dr. Mirza Ahmed Afzal Farooq and Dr. Parveen, actively participated in the discussions, alongside enthusiastic student contributions that enriched the dialogue with fresh insights and creative expressions.

This event underscored the department's commitment to intellectual engagement and literary appreciation, reinforcing CUJ’s dedication to fostering a deeper understanding of diverse literary traditions among both faculty and students.
