JAMMU: The All State Kashmiri Pandit Conference (ASKPC – SSDYSS Regd.) organized a solemn General Body Meeting at ASKPC Bhawan, Durga Nagar, Jammu, to observe Balidan Diwas and pay heartfelt tributes (Shraddhanjali) to all the martyrs who laid down their lives for the community and the nation.
Presiding over the commemorative meeting, ASKPC(Regd) President Shri R. K. Wangnoo (Ram Krishen Wangnoo) led the gathering in paying floral tributes to the innocent victims and brave souls who were brutally killed by terrorists in the Kashmir Valley. Addressing the assembly, Shri R. K. Wangnoo highlighted the targeted killings and atrocities faced by the minority community during the peak of terrorism:
"Balidan Diwas is a solemn reminder of the supreme sacrifices made by our brothers and sisters who were targeted and brutally slain for no fault of their own. Their courage and blood will never be forgotten. As a displaced community, our resolve remains unbroken. We reiterate our demand for justice, recognition of the genocide, and an honorable, secure rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits back in their homeland."
Speaking on the occasion, Vice President Shri Sanjay Kumar Bakshi underscored the collective trauma and resilience of the community: "The wounds inflicted during those cold-blooded days of militancy remain etched in our collective memory. Observing Balidan Diwas is not only about mourning our martyrs, but also reaffirming our pledge to keep our cultural identity, heritage, and struggle alive. We must ensure that the younger generation remains conscious of the supreme sacrifices made by our elders for the preservation of our roots."
Several executive members Sanjay Bakshi, T N. Raina, R.L. Koul. Shri Ravinder Raina and community leaders also addressed the gathering, recalling the dark days of militancy and paying homage to prominent community figures, social workers, and common citizens who fell to terror bullets. The meeting concluded at 12:00 noon after the observance of two minutes of silence in memory of the martyrs.
