Organises poster making competition on HIV/AIDS awareness

SAMBA: The Department of Hindi, Government Degree College Vijaypur, celebrated Hindi Diwas by organising a Debate Competition and Slogan Writing Competition to promote the importance, richness and wider use of the Hindi language among students.

The programme was organised under the guidance of the Principal, Dr. Sanjeet Kaur and coordinated by Prof. Sonia Devi, Lecturer, Department of Hindi. The competitions provided students with an opportunity to express their ideas and creativity while highlighting the significance of Hindi in education, communication and national life.

Principal Dr. Sanjeet Kaur appreciated the Department of Hindi for organising meaningful activities and emphasised the importance of promoting Indian languages among students.

Meanwhile, the Red Ribbon Club of the College in collaboration with the NSS Unit (KHIDMAT) organized a Poster Making Competition on “HIV/AIDS Awareness” to commemorate International Youth Day 2026 under the aegis of the Intensified Information, Education and Communication (IEC) Campaign 2026.

The objective of the competition was to harness the creative potential of youth to disseminate critical information regarding HIV/AIDS prevention, eliminate stigma and discrimination associated with the disease and promote voluntary testing and responsible behavior among the student community.

The submitted posters were evaluated by a designated judging committee comprising of Dr. Pooja Gupta, Prof Anu Bala and Dr. Reetika Sharma. First Position was secured by Ganish Dhotra whereas second and third position was shared by Rupali Kotwal and Mohd Ahsan Khan of Sem-I, respectively.

When he appointed me Editor-in-Chief of JK Monitor, he never treated me as an employee, but as a younger brother, offering warmth, trust, respect and invaluable guidance. I will always be grateful for his faith in me, his encouragement and the lessons he shared.

Dr. Ranjan was a rare and noble soul—humble, compassionate, intellectually brilliant and always willing to help others. A visionary thinker, he believed in using knowledge and abilities to make a meaningful difference. His influence lives on through the people he guided, the work he inspired and the countless lives he touched.

For me, he will always be the elder brother who believed in me and guided me with affection. I will cherish his kindness and lessons forever. May his soul rest in eternal peace. He will be deeply missed and never forgotten.

We at JK Monitor are profoundly saddened by the sudden demise of our Founding Chairman, Dr. Priya Ranjan. IN LOVING MEMORY Dr Priya Ranjan

A brilliant mind who studied at Netarhat Residential School and graduated in Electrical Engineering from IIT Kharagpur before earning his PhD from the University of Maryland, Dr. Ranjan chose to return to India and dedicate his life to teaching, research and social good.

His pioneering work in networked systems, AI, robotics and biomedical applications—especially computer-vision tools for early detection of cancer and heart disease—reflected his deep belief that advanced technology must serve humanity.

For more than 15 years at JK Monitor, he remained a loyal friend, mentor and collaborator, marked by rare humility, intellectual integrity and quiet generosity. His passing leaves a void that cannot be filled. Priya, you will be deeply missed. Your life continues to remind us that knowledge finds its highest purpose in the service of others.
