JAMMU: The 21 day residential training programme for Yuva Aapda Mitra volunteers as “Master Trainers” (TOT) concluded here today at CTI, Kot Bhalwal, Jammu. Nearly, 92 male and female trainees from Himachal Pradesh, Uttrakhand and UTs of Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh and Chandigarh participated in the training course. Principal Secretary, Home Department, Chandraker Bharti was the chief guest at the valedictory ceremony of the programme.
The Principal Secretary lauded the role of these young trainees for their voluntary services to the nation. He appreciated the services of NDRF/SDRF and other resource persons besides all the officers and officials who made this training programme successful. He also emphasised upon the trainees to impart training to other civilians of their respective areas to assist the community during any disaster like situations by using the basic disaster techniques.
On the occasion. S.J.M Gillani, DGP/Commandant General HG/CD and SDRF, J&K, presented a brief history and achievements of the training institute. He underscored the objective of this TOT course for the Aapda Mitras, being conducted under the aegis of National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), New Delhi, at 7 different locations in the country including Central Training Institute (CTI), Kot Bhalwal, Jammu.
This training module has been designed in consultation with NDMA which included Basic Disaster Management, earthquake safety, cloud burst, lifting of moving patients, basic search and rescue, flood and cyclone. He asserted that services of NDRF/SDRF Instructors and resource persons of Health Department and professors from Jammu University besides J&K Police and Armed Police were utilised for smooth conduct of the training programme.
Later, the Principal Secretary distributed participation certificates among the trainees besides presenting the momentos to Z. N Manhas, Commandant SDRF 2nd Bn Jammu and Dev Raj, Principal CTI Kot Bhalwal, Jammu and Nodal Officer, Atul Sharma.
