BARAMULLA: The Government Degree College (GDC) Baramulla successfully hosted the District round of the Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament 2025, serving as the nodal district for Baramulla, Kupwara, and Bandipora. The event, themed 'One Nation, One Election: Paving the Way for Viksit Bharat,' provided a platform for students to engage in intellectual discourse on India’s development.
The event was inaugurated by Prof. Tariq Ahmad Chalkoo, Staff Secretary of GDC Baramulla and Vice Chairman of the event. He reiterated the importance of youth-led discourse in shaping the future of India's democracy and governance. The program was held under the overall supervision of the District Level Committee headed by Chairman and Principal, Prof Mohammad Shafi Lone.
Following deliberations, the top ten participants were declared to represent Baramulla at the State level Competition Ulfat Hafiz, Shahid Dar and Tasaduq Hussain secured 1st, 2nd and 3rd position respectively. Principal of GDC Baramulla, Prof. Mohammad Shafi Lone, delivered a heartfelt vote of thanks, appreciating the enthusiasm, dedication, and intellectual engagement of the participants. He lauded the students for their exceptional debating skills and emphasized the importance of such platforms in shaping responsible and visionary youth.
He also extended gratitude to the jury members, faculty, NSS volunteers, and organizing committee for their efforts in making the event a success. Jury members also shared their insights, encouraging students to approach topics with an open mind and diverse perspectives. The event concluded with the distribution of participation certificates to all students and mementos for jury members as a token of appreciation.
