JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir BJP Mahila Morcha President Sanjita Dogra addressed an awareness workshop on the ‘One Nation, One Election’ initiative, emphasizing the necessity of synchronized elections across India. The workshop, organized by Brahma Kumari Branch Head Sarla Ji and her team, at Jaganoo, in Udhampur East Constituency. It aimed to educate people about the potential benefits of simultaneous elections at both national and state levels.
During her address, Dogra highlighted that implementing ‘One Nation, One Election’ could significantly improve governance efficiency, reduce election-related expenditures, and ensure consistent policy implementation across the country. She emphasized that holding elections at different times disrupts governance and puts an economic burden on the country. By synchronizing elections, India could achieve greater political stability, better resource management, and streamlined administrative functioning.
"Frequent elections disrupt governance and burden the economy. A synchronized election system will lead to political stability and better resource management," Dogra stated. She also underlined the importance of public awareness and open discussions to build a well-informed consensus on this crucial electoral reform.
The workshop provided a platform for discussions on the practical aspects of implementing simultaneous elections and the challenges associated with this reform. The attendees deliberated on how such a system could lead to uninterrupted development projects and reduce the financial strain of conducting multiple elections.
Several prominent personalities participated in the workshop, lending their insights and support to the initiative. Among those present were DDC Vice Chairperson Juhi Pathania, Suhani Katoch, Usha Rajput, and Santosh Sharma. Their presence underscored the significance of engaging in discussions about electoral reforms.
Dogra and other speakers urged participants to actively contribute to the discourse, ensuring that the public remains informed about the potential advantages of a unified electoral system.
