JAMMU: Strongly reacting to a recent controversy, BJP spokesperson Dr. Tahir Choudhary has condemned the Deputy Chief Minister for allegedly misbehaving with a female government employee during an official visit. In a viral video, the Deputy CM was reportedly heard speaking harshly and disrespectfully to the female employee during a discussion about encroachment issues and development work. The minister’s intimidating tone has sparked concerns regarding the treatment of government employees.
Condemning the incident, Dr Tahir Choudhary called the Deputy CM's conduct “highly inappropriate” and “unbecoming of a senior leader.” He further stated that such behavior not only undermines the morale of government officials but also reflects poorly on the administration. "I strongly condemn the Deputy CM’s behavior. Government employees, especially women, must be treated with respect and dignity. Such disrespectful conduct is unacceptable, and I demand that the Deputy CM issue a public apology without delay," said Choudhary.
He also urged Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to intervene and take appropriate action to address the matter. “The Chief Minister must ensure that such incidents are not repeated. Elected leaders must uphold the values of courtesy and professionalism while interacting with public servants,” Choudhary added.
Choudhary further stated that the incident has ignited widespread debate, with social activists, political figures, and local residents voicing their concerns. He emphasized the need for stricter guidelines to ensure public officials maintain respectful conduct in their interactions with employees. “The demand for a public apology continues to grow, and I stand with those advocating for accountability and fair treatment of government staff,” Choudhary said.
