POONCH: Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Vikas Kundal today chaired a meeting of the District Telecom Committee (DTC) to review and discuss the development of telecom infrastructure and network connectivity across the district, with a special focus on the construction and commissioning of mobile towers.

During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner took a detailed review of the project-wise status of mobile tower installations under various saturation projects. It was informed that out of 38 sanctioned projects, 13 towers have been completed, out of which 09 are fully functional while work on 04 is currently in progress.

Threadbare discussions were held to address the issues and concerns of telecom operators as well as consumers regarding network coverage, tower installation delays and associated infrastructure challenges. The DC emphasized the urgent need to enhance telecom services, particularly in remote and border areas where connectivity remains a critical concern.

The Deputy Commissioner issued clear timelines to the executing agencies, especially BSNL for expediting the installation of mobile towers. He stressed the importance of improving network strength and coverage for the benefit of the public, particularly in underserved regions. He also reiterated that strong communication infrastructure is essential for overall development and public welfare.
