JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir BJP President, Sat Sharma CA, while addresding a largely attended organizational meeting of Akhnoor district, highlighted historic and cultural significance of Akhnoor. This meeting was organised by district president Kuldeep Sharma. Sat Sharma CA said that Akhnoor has deep connections to the Pandavas and the sacred Chanderbhaga River, which flows through the area and continues to bless its people.
He described Akhnoor as the land of the Pandavas, referencing the legend that the Pandavas visited this region during their exile. He underscored the district's spiritual and historical significance, stating, "Akhnoor holds a special place in our cultural history. It is not just a land of faith but also of valour and sacrifice."
Sat Sharma CA also spoke on the supreme sacrifices of patriots who laid down their lives for the honour of the tricolour in Jammu and Kashmir. He recalled the unwavering spirit of the nationalists, who fought against divisive forces and worked for the unity of the nation. Their sacrifices remind us of our duty to uphold the honour and integrity of India and we must ensure that their dream of a strong, united, and progressive Jammu & Kashmir are fulfilled, he said.
Discussing the revocation of Article 370, Sharma highlighted how the special status of Jammu & Kashmir had deprived many sections of society of their fundamental rights. He stated that the abrogation of Article 370 has brought justice, equality, and development to all communities, including West Pakistani refugees, Valmiki Samaj, Gorkhas, women, who were earlier denied their rightful entitlements. "For decades, certain sections of society faced discrimination. Today, they stand empowered with the same rights and opportunities as every Indian citizen," he affirmed.
Local MLA Mohan Lal lauded the developmental initiatives undertaken by the central government in Jammu & Kashmir, emphasizing the region’s transformation through enhanced infrastructure, economic growth, and improved governance. District President Kuldeep Sharma urged party workers to strengthen the organizational framework of BJP in Akhnoor and work relentlessly to ensure that the benefits of good governance reach every household.
Ex MLA Rajeev Sharma reflected the party’s growing presence and influence in the region. District General Secretary Ajay Singh conducted the proceedings. District Prabhari, Brijeshwar Rana, DDCs Pt. Suresh Sharma and Bhushan Bral, former VC Daljeet Singh, Ex District Presidents Jagdish Bhagat and Manmohan Singh, senior leaders Dr. Suresh Ajay Magotra, Sushma Sharma and Nisha Kumari, also addressed the meeting.
