JAMMU: A joint enforcement drive was conducted today by the District Administration, at Indira Nagar, Miran Sahib, to ensure strict compliance with traffic rules and enhance road safety. The enforcement team included Tehsildar Jammu South Aarti Bhardwaj, ARTO FS. NHW Pawan Sharma, ARTO Mohd. Saleem, Motor Vehicle Inspector C.S. Billoria and police personnel from the Police Post, Miran Sahib.
During the drive, more than 170 vehicles were checked, out of which 38 were e-challaned for various offences. Additionally, six vehicles were seized due to serious infractions. The fines expected from the e-challans amount to âč1,38,500. In a separate enforcement operation conducted in the Akhnoor-Khour area, joint Nakas were set up at multiple locations to crack down on violations of the Motor Vehicles Act.
The drive primarily focused on spreading awareness about road safety among motorists, including light motor vehicle drivers and passenger vehicle operators. On-the-spot awareness campaigns were conducted to educate drivers and the general public about traffic law compliance.
Approximately 350 vehicles were inspected during the operation, resulting in 65 e-challans being issued. One vehicle was seized for major violations. The total fines expected from the e-challans stand at âč1,52,200. The Akhnoor-Khour enforcement team comprised Tehsildar Khour Ranjit Singh, ARTO FS Bipen Singh Charak, MVI Azad Hussain, SHO Khour Neeraj and MVTA Taranjot Singh, along with police personnel.
