BANDIPORA: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Manzoor Ahmad Qadri today chaired a meeting at mini secretariat, here to finalize the arrangements for the upcoming religious festivals, including Shabi Qadar, Jumat-ul-Vida, Eid-ul-Fitr, and Navratra 2025.
During the meeting, the DC emphasized the importance of ensuring smooth celebrations by making adequate arrangements for essential services viz. electricity, water supply, sanitation, traffic management, security and medical facilities. He directed the concerned departments to put in place a coordinated action plan to facilitate the observance of these religious festival without any inconvenience to the public.
The meeting was informed that special teams, including officers from Police, Revenue, and Legal Metrology, were constituted at the beginning of Ramadan to monitor markets and prevent overpricing. On the occasion, the DC urged the Traders Federation to maintain fair prices, emphasizing that everyone is a consumer and that price hikes during festivals cause distress to the general public, besides directed the concerned departments to conduct regular market inspections to prevent hoarding and overpricing.
Qadri urged concerned from Municipal Committees to conduct special cleanliness drives at religious places. He instructed the Health Department to deploy medical teams and ambulances to handle emergencies and directed Transport Department to ensure smooth public transportation and reducing traffic congestion by managing unnecessary parking.
The DC further urged the Rural Development Department (RDD) to oversee cleanliness efforts at religious places on Eid-ul-Fitr. Among others the meeting was attended by ADC, Zaffar Husson Shawl; ACD, Irfan Bahadur, District Officers of various Departments, Representatives of traders federation, Waqf board and other concerned.
