- 18 vehicles also seized in Ganderbal from last two weeks
PULWAMA: Cracking a whip on illegal mining of minerals, Police have arrested 04 persons and seized 04 vehicles involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals in Pulwama, besides 18 vehicles have been seized in Ganderbal in the last two weeks.
In Pulwama, a team led by SHO Police Station Rajpora arrested 04 persons and seized 04 vehicles, (01 tipper and 03 dumpers) for illegal extraction and transportation of minerals. The accused persons have been identified as Bashir Ahmad Mir son of Ali Mohd resident of Pampore Kadalbal, Shabir Ahmad Rather son of Ab Rashid resident of Chandhara, Aijaz Ahmad Ganie son of Gh Nabi resident of Saimoora and Ab Gani Wani son of Mohd Maqbool resident of Mandikphal Pampore. Accordingly, cases vide FIR No’s. 26/2025 and 27/2025 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Rajpora and further investigation has been initiated.
In Ganderbal, 18 vehicles have been seized involved in illegal excavation and transportation of minerals in the last two weeks. The vehicles were seized in various areas of Police Stations of the district including Ganderbal, Kheerbawani, Kangan, Lar, Safapora and Police Post Nagbal. This proactive approach to curb illegal mining has been actively taken up by district Police Ganderbal along with the Geology and Mining Department thereby ensuring the individuals involved in such illegal activities are legally prosecuted.
Persons found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law. Community members are appealed to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
