UDHAMPUR: To discuss the arrangements for upcoming festivals, the Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Saloni Rai today convened a meeting with officers and prominent citizens of the District here at Conference Hall DC Office Complex. Senior Superintendent of Police, Amod Ashok Nagpure; Additional Deputy Commissioner, Prem Singh; PO Poshan, Subash Dogra; GM DIC, Kishore Singh; Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Dr Umesh Shan and district heads of other departments attended the meeting.
Threadbare discussions were held on various arrangements related to security, safe drinking water, power supply, first-aid, sanitation, checking of rates, fire tenders, maintenance of internal roads, repair of street lights, Deployment of police personnel, Traffic congestion in the town etc discussed in detail. Necessary directions were issued to district heads to ensure fool-proof arrangements pertaining to their respective department during the festival. The DC stressed upon the Police Department to make sufficient security arrangements to avoid any untoward incident during the festive season.
The CMO was asked to deploy a health team along with an ambulance for providing necessary health facilities. Executive Engineer PHE was asked to ensure regular supply of drinking water besides Executive Engineer PDD was directed to ensure uninterrupted power supply during the festival.
Stressing on maintaining cleanliness in the town, the DC directed the CEO MC to take necessary steps in this regard and also sought the cooperation of prominent citizens in keeping the town clean. Keeping in view the festive season, a committee comprising Tehsildar, Assistant Director FCS & CA, CEO Municipality and Food Safety Officer was constituted to conduct market inspection to keep check on overcharging by the shopkeepers.
General public was advised not to park their vehicles on the road side. Meanwhile, the shopkeepers were also asked to display the rate list of all the essential commodities for the information of the general public. Further, the Traffic department was directed to deploy an adequate number of traffic personnel at traffic jam prone areas to avoid any traffic congestion during the festival.
