ANANTNAG: The Department of Cooperatives, Anantnag, organized a grand event at Town Hall Anantnag to commemorate the International Year of Cooperatives 2025, highlighting the vital role of cooperatives in sustainable development. Deputy Registrar, Cooperative Anantnag, Muzaffar Ahmad, emphasized the global significance of the International Year of Cooperatives 2025, which is being observed under the theme ‘Cooperatives Build a Better World.’
He underscored that cooperatives are instrumental in addressing global challenges and accelerating efforts toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). “This theme sheds light on the cooperative model as a powerful solution for economic resilience, social inclusion, and sustainable development,” he stated. He informed the gathering that 20,000 liters of milk are being produced in Anantnag on daily basis
Chirag Patel, CEO of Jammu & Kashmir Milk Producers Co-operative Limited (JKMPCL), highlighted the organization's commitment to empowering milk producers across Jammu & Kashmir. He stated that JKMPCL is working to enhance coordination among milk producers, boost livelihoods, facilitate capacity building, and promote inclusive and sustainable growth in the region.
As part of the celebrations, bonus cheques and mementos were distributed among the top five cooperative societies and top five milk producers in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the sector. The event brought together cooperative members, officials, and stakeholders, reinforcing the commitment to strengthening the cooperative movement in Jammu & Kashmir.
