KISHTWAR: Under the aegis of J&K Legal Services Authority, the District Legal Services Authority, Kishtwar, with the objective of generating awareness on Gender related issues and the provisions of the Sexual Harassment of Woman at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013, organized an awareness programme here today in the District Court Complex .
The awareness programme was inaugurated by Manjeet Singh Manhas, Chairman, District Legal Services Authority (Principal District & Sessions Judge). Mahmud Anwar Al-Nasir, CJM Kishtwar was the resource person. Manjeet Singh Manhas highlighted the significance of generating awareness on the highly important issue of sexual harassment at workplaces and emphasized the requirement of gender sensitization for both men and women.
He emphasized that sexual harassment in the workplace is not merely a violation of individual dignity; it is a grave social injustice that undermines professional environments, stifles growth, and perpetuates a culture of fear and inequality. Mahmud Anwar Al-Nasir dealt with various aspects of gender sensitization and presented a detailed overview of provisions of Sexual Harassment of Woman at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013.
He apprised the participants about issues related to gender including gender discrimination, stereotypes, prejudices and gender equality. Among the participants were Additional SP, Pawan Kumar Sharma; Deputy Chief LADC Naveed Khurshid; Assistant LADC Sanveer Singh; SHO P.S. Women Cell SI Sakshi Sharma; teachers nominated by the CEO, police officials nominated by SSP Kishtwar, members of internal complaints committee, District Court Kishtwar and members of the bar. Slahuddin Ahmed, Sub Judge/Secretary, DSLA Kishtwar conducted the proceedings of the programme.
