KATHUA: In a decisive move to enforce food safety standards and protect public health, Additional Deputy Commissioner Kathua Ranjit Singh imposed a penalty of Rs 2.37 lakh on several business establishments for violation of Food Safety and Standards Act (FSSA) 2006. The fines were levied for the sale and distribution of substandard and misbranded food items in the district. The violators included manufacturers, distributors, and retailers.

This strict enforcement underscores the Kathua administration’s unwavering commitment to ensuring the availability of safe and high-quality food products. Commercial establishments have been directed to adhere to food safety regulations and maintain the prescribed standards to avoid legal action and safeguard consumer trust. The administration has also issued a stern warning to businesses, urging compliance with the law to prevent further violations and penalties. ‎
