SRINAGAR: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police in Sopore have arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession.
A Police party of Police Post Bus Stand headed by IC Police Post Bus Stand under the supervision of SDPO Sopore at a checkpoint established at Seelo, apprehended a suspected person identified as Umar Farooq Sheikh son of Farooq Ahmad Sheikh resident of Seelo Sopore. During search, 3.5 Kgs of Charas Powder was recovered from his possession.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 232 of 2024 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Sopore and investigation has been initiated. We urge the common masses that if you witness drug peddling or any other crime anywhere near you, feel free to contact nearest police establishment or dial 112. General public are requested to cooperate with Police in curbing the menace of drugs from the society. We reassure the community members that police will act tough against the criminals as per law.
