JAMMU: BJP OBC Morcha, District Jammu, organised organ donation awareness and registration camp at Chowk Chabutra, Jammu, with the objective of creating greater awareness among the public about the importance of organ donation and encouraging people to come forward for this noble cause.

Member of Parliament Jugal Kishore Sharma was the chief guest at the programme. He himself filled the organ donation pledge form at the camp and appealed to the people to understand the importance of organ donation and contribute towards saving precious lives.

BJP OBC Morcha J&K President Braham Jyot Satti, District President BJP Rajesh Gupta, District Vice President Ramesh Gupta, District General Secretaries Sumit Raina and Ravi Sharma, and District Spokesperson Keshav Chopra were also present on the occasion. The programme was organised by District President Arun Sethi along with his team.

During the programme, an oath was also administered to the participants, carrying the message of “Shramdaan during life and Angdaan after death”. The pledge highlighted the importance of contributing to society through service during one’s lifetime and making a commitment to donate organs after death so that the gift of life can be extended to others.

Speaking on the occasion, Jugal Kishore Sharma said that organ donation is one of the greatest forms of service to humanity. He said that awareness about organ donation is still comparatively low in the country, while many patients continue to face serious difficulties because suitable organs are not available to them in time.

He said that if families openly discuss organ donation, understand medical advice and the legal procedure involved, and clearly communicate their wishes to their loved ones, many lives can be saved. He stressed that awareness, consent and sensitive communication can help make organ donation a more familiar, safe and trustworthy process and can create a culture of selfless service in society.

Jugal Kishore Sharma further said that organ donation is not merely a medical decision but also a deeply humanitarian act. He said that when a person contributes through Shramdaan during his or her lifetime and takes a pledge for Angdaan after death, it becomes a source of hope for others. He emphasised the need to spread simple and reliable information about organ donation through schools, colleges, community organisations and religious groups.

He said that guidance from doctors and experts, awareness of the proper legal procedure and family consent are important aspects of responsible organ donation. Regular community-level awareness programmes, he added, can help remove fear, confusion and misconceptions and encourage people to look at organ donation as an act of service, dignity and human responsibility. He said that even a small individual pledge, when taken collectively by society, can lay the foundation for a meaningful social change.

Braham Jyot Satti expressed gratitude to Jugal Kishore Sharma for his presence and for personally filling the organ donation pledge form, saying that his participation would encourage more people to come forward for the cause. He also thanked all the party functionaries, workers and members of the public who participated in the camp and took the pledge to donate their organs.

He also expressed his appreciation to the medical team and officials associated with the programme, including Anshu Sharma, Consultant (IEC/Media), SOTTO J&K; Irfan Ahmad Lone, Transplant Coordinator, SOTTO J&K; Nisha Kumari, Programme Assistant, SOTTO J&K; Manik Sharma, Transplant Coordinator, GMC Jammu; Ashok Singh; and Ashwini Kumar, Driver, SOTTO J&K, for their cooperation and efforts in facilitating the awareness and registration activity.

He appreciated District President Arun Sethi and his entire team for continuously working for the welfare of society and for taking up activities aimed at creating awareness about important social causes. He said that such programmes strengthen the spirit of service and encourage people to come together for the larger good of society.
