KUPWARA: Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Shrikant Suse, today provided immediate financial assistance of ₹2.5 lakh to the Next of Kin (NoK) of three individuals who tragically lost their lives in recent road accidents, under the provisions of the J&K Road Accident Victim Fund. The Deputy Commissioner presented cheques of ₹1 lakh each to the families of two deceased individuals and ₹50 thousand to the family of a third victim.

The financial sanction for these families was authorized following approval by a mandated five-member committee. The committee, dedicated to overseeing the fund's operations, is chaired by the Deputy Commissioner and includes key district officers including ARTO,  Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Account Officer to the DC Office, and Deputy SP Traffic.

The J&K Road Accident Victim Fund 2022 is designed to offer swift financial relief to the dependents and legal heirs of people killed or injured in road accidents, specifically those involving passenger and private vehicles. The initiative ensures that victims' families receive timely support during their period of distress.

During the cheque distribution, the Deputy Commissioner reiterated government’s commitment to the scheme's swift implementation. He strongly urged all concerned officers to ensure the rapid and priority resolution of all pending cases related to road accident deaths and injuries. Furthermore, he stressed the critical need for promoting widespread public awareness about the existence and benefits of the fund and establishing an efficient single-window clearance system to significantly expedite and streamline the disbursal process for compensation claims.
