KULGAM: As part of the ongoing National Road Safety Month 2025, the Motor Vehicles Department (MVD) Kulgam conducted a rigorous enforcement and awareness drive in the district. During the drive, more than 95 vehicles were inspected, resulting in 30 challans issued for various traffic violations. The fines collected totaled Rs.1,56,100, highlighting the department’s commitment to enforcing traffic norms and ensuring road safety. Additionally, four passenger autos were seized for non-compliance with operational norms.

These measures were implemented to ensure that public transport vehicles adhere to safety standards, safeguarding passengers' lives. The enforcement drive, led by ARTO Kulgam, Abrar Ahmed Kripak, along with MVI, MVTAs and others, also included an awareness campaign. Drivers and commuters were educated on the importance of following traffic rules, wearing seatbelts, avoiding over-speeding, and refraining from using mobile phones while driving. MVD Kulgam has announced plans to conduct similar drives in the coming weeks to ensure the successful observance of National Road Safety Month 2025.
