The Survival Fight of JK Monitor: For 16 years, JK Monitor has chronicled Jammu and Kashmir with integrity. Since 2010, I have steered its newsroom alongside our visionary Founding Chairman, Dr. Priya Ranjan (IIT Kharagpur alumnus, University of Maryland Ph.D.). His tragic demise in October 2026 left a severe financial and operational vacuum. Without urgent support, our 24/7 news portal risks permanently shutting down after November 2026, remaining only as a static digital archive. We appeal to well-wishers to extend a helping hand to keep our active newsroom alive. Support Us: WhatsApp: +91-9906103001 | Email: journalistajmerwani@gmail.com

JAMMU: Minister for Jal Shakti, Forest, Ecology & Environment and Tribal Affairs, Javed Ahmed Rana, hailed the historic inauguration of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla rail link describing it as a major breakthrough in effecting development of every section in Jammu and Kashmir. The Minister complemented the Railways and the Government of India, as well as the Government of Jammu and Kashmir, for bringing this engineering marvel to life.

Expressing gratitude to Prime Minister of India and Union Railways Minister, he recalled the efforts of successive governments over the years that have gone into making this project a reality. "This train service is a testament to the unwavering commitment and dedication of our governments towards improving the connectivity and infrastructure of Jammu and Kashmir," Minister Rana said.

“It will not only enhance the mobility of people but also boost economic activity, promote tourism and provide new opportunities for growth and development in various regions and sub-regions of J&K." The Minister expressed his optimism that this development will have a positive impact on the lives of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, particularly in terms of economic development and social connectivity.

Rana who hails from the remote Pir Panjal Region of J&K, also hoped that other ongoing and planned infrastructure projects in Jammu & Kashmir will also be expeditiously completed and opened for the public soon. These include the Jammu-Poonch National Highway, Loran to Tangmarg Road, Tunnel on Mughal Road, Budhal to Shopian Road, among others.

"The completion of these projects will further enhance the connectivity and accessibility of different regions of Jammu and Kashmir, thereby promoting economic growth and overall development, especially in the Pir Panjal Region”, Rana added.

The Minister appreciated Government of India’s commitment to promoting the welfare of people of Jammu and Kashmir through infrastructure development and improved connectivity. The inauguration of the Udhampur to Baramulla train service, he said, is a significant milestone in this direction, and hoped for the timely completion of other infrastructure projects which will bring further benefits to the people of J&K.
