SRINAGAR: The JK&L Directorate continues its mission to empower the youth of Jammu & Kashmir by offering them avenues to build valuable skills for their careers. One such initiative is the Combined Annual Training Camp (CATC) conducted by the 1 J&K Battalion NCC, Srinagar, at the NCC Training Academy, Nagrota, from 02 to 11 September 2024. The camp has attracted 468 cadets from across the region.

As part of the camp, 51 cadets are participating in a specialized "Smartphone Filmmaking" course from 05 to 09 September, led by Mr.Amjad Jami, a distinguished director from the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune. Mr. Jami, a visual communication expert with over 35 years of award-winning experience, is guiding the cadets through the nuances of smartphone filmmaking. On 06 September, Maj Gen RK Sachdeva, ADG, JK&L Directorate, visited the camp. He was briefed by Col SaurabhSaxena, the Camp Commandant, on the training activities, particularly the filmmaking course. This intensive five-day program aims to provide cadets with practical knowledge of camera functionalities, light effects, and movie editing, both indoors and outdoors. The cadets will also learn about linking picture and sound in group projects.

In his address, Maj Gen Sachdeva emphasized the significance of learning new skills and making the most of this unique opportunity. He highlighted that technology is shaping the future, and it is crucial for the youth to stay ahead by mastering such tools. The training not only boosts technical know-how but also empowers the cadets to explore their creative potential using modern technology.
