JAMMU: The University of Jammu today crossed yet another significant milestone by achieving the distinction of bagging 50th rank among the best universities of India. The proud moment for the University came with the latest National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) released by the Ministry of Education, Government of India this afternoon.

This marks a significant improvement for the University by moving ahead 13 steps and touching 50th mark from the previous rank of 63. The NIRF has been evaluating the performance of the institutions across the country since 2015 in five key areas, Teaching, Learning and Resources, Research and Professional Practice, Graduation Outcomes, Outreach and Inclusivity, and Perception.

“Touching 50th rank for the first time reflects the hard work and dedication of the entire university fraternity”, said Prof Umesh Rai, Vice Chancellor University of Jammu. He said earning a place in the top 50 is not just an honour but also opens up new opportunities for the university through special privileges under various governmental and UGC schemes. This recognition underscores the commitment of the University to provide top-quality education and establish a culture of academic excellence, he added.

Prof Rai expressed his joy over this achievement, attributing it to the leadership, vision, and support of the Hon'ble Chancellor, University of Jammu and Lieutenant Governor of JKUT Shri Manoj Sinha. "This accomplishment makes us immensely proud and is evidence of our collective dedication to continuous improvement and innovation in all aspects of higher education," said Prof. Rai.

He also extended his gratitude to the Higher Education Department and Finance Department of the Government of JK UT for their relentless support, which has been crucial to the university's success.
