JAMMU: Sunil Dimple, President of Mission Statehood, has called on Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to pass a resolution in the upcoming assembly session on November 4. Dimple’s appeal emphasizes the need to restart the traditional Darbar Move, restore Article 370 and Article 35-A, and implement the Instrument of Accession signed between the J&K State and India by Maharaja Hari Singh. He also advocated for the reintegration of Ladakh, Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (POK), Gilgit, and Baltistan into Jammu & Kashmir.
In a press conference at the Press Club, Dimple urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah to clarify the BJP’s position on restoring Jammu & Kashmir's Dogra statehood and the initiation of the Darbar Move. He expressed disappointment with the BJP's silence on these issues and accused its 29 MLAs of betraying the Dogra legacy by celebrating Union Territory (UT) Foundation Day rather than standing with the people’s demand for statehood.
Dimple noted the adverse effects on traders and transporters due to the absence of the Darbar Move and demanded immediate action to alleviate their hardships. He stated that Mission Statehood had boycotted UT Foundation Day celebrations on October 31, which, according to him, exposed what he called the “double standards” of the BJP regarding the restoration of Jammu & Kashmir’s Dogra statehood.
In addition, Dimple called on CM Omar Abdullah to prioritize the implementation of the state subject, uphold the Instrument of Accession conditions, and conduct local elections for bodies such as panchayats, municipal corporations, and committees, to address the region’s rising issues of unemployment and poverty.
