JAMMU: An awareness programme on Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Program (PMEGP) and JKREGP scheme, being implemented by Khadi and Village Industries Board (KVIB), was held at Industrial Technical Institute (ITI), Jammu. Deputy CEO, KVIB, Tilak Raj and Principal ITI briefed the participants about the PMEGP and JKREGP scheme which is being run with the objective of providing financial and technical assistance to encourage youth to start small and medium scale manufacturing and service enterprises.

“Through PMEGP and JKREGP scheme, the Government aims to create such entrepreneurs who can generate employment for themselves and for others as well so that the burden to provide employment on the existing structure can be eased out” they added. They informed that KVIB invites all such individuals, and organizations, who want to set up their own business units under the authorized categories. KVIB not only helps in providing financial and technical assistance to the beneficiaries under various government schemes, but also arranges for their training, if required. The programme was attended by the students and staff of ITI and KVIB.
