  • District Administration Ramban gears up for Int’l Yoga Day celebration

RAMBAN: Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Alyas Khan today chaired a meeting of senior officers at the DC Office Complex to review the preparedness for the International Yoga Day, being observed across the district under the theme "Yoga for One Earth, One Health."

The meeting was attended by Senior Superintendent of Police Ramban Kulbir Singh; SSP Traffic NHW Raja Adil Hamid Ganaie; Additional Deputy Commissioner Varunjeet Singh Charak; Assistant Commissioner Revenue Dr. Shokat Hayat Mattoo; Chief Planning Officer Dr. Shakeeb Ahmed Rather, SDMs, Tehsildars, Dy. SPs, district heads of the departments and representatives of Beopar Mandal Ramban.

The meeting decided that the district-level Yoga event will be organized at the District Administrative Complex, Maitra, while similar programs will be hosted at Sub-Division and Tehsil Headquarters and other designated locations across the district.

 The Deputy Commissioner briefed the officers on their respective roles and responsibilities while stressing maximum participation of government employees from their respective departments, prominent citizens and youth of the area in the district-level function and other venues. 

The District Nodal Officer for Yoga was directed to coordinate with the concerned departments to ensure smooth and foolproof arrangements for the event. The Chief Education Officer was instructed to arrange transport facilities for students and furnish the list of officials and students participating in the district-level program within two days.

He also directed the line departments to make all necessary arrangements at the venues well in advance, including logistics, seating, water supply, power supply, PAS and first aid to facilitate smooth conduct of the yoga sessions across the district.

  • DC Ramban reviews disaster preparedness, mitigation strategies ahead of monsoon, SANJY 2025

RAMBAN: Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Alyas Khan today convened a meeting of frontline departments to discuss Disaster Preparedness and the effective implementation of the mitigation Plan in the district, especially in view of the upcoming monsoon season and Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY), 2025.

The meeting was attended by SSP Kulbir Singh, SSP Traffic NHW Raja Adil Hamid Ganaie, ADC Varunjeet Singh Charak, ACR Dr. Shokat Hayat Mattoo, SDMs, Tehsildars, Dy. SPs and heads of all frontline   departments.

Referring to the natural calamities witnessed in the recent past, the Deputy Commissioner stressed the need for effective implementation of the District Disaster Management Plan with special focus on Hazard Vulnerability Capacity and Risk Assessment (HVCRA), prevention, mitigation, preparedness, response protocols and standard operating procedures.

The DC directed the stakeholder departments dealing with emergencies and disasters to remain in a state of alertness and preparedness, especially during the monsoon period and during the   SANJY-2025. He underlined the need for keeping the Quick Response Teams (QRTs), SDRF, Civil Defence and Tehsil Disaster Management Committees on high alert.

He directed for ensuring flawless functioning of Control Rooms established at the district level to coordinate and respond to any emergent situation. 

Later, the Deputy Commissioner, accompanied by the team of officers inspected the ongoing construction work of the cut-and-cover tunnel at Mehar, which is nearing completion. He directed the Project Director National Highway Authority to deploy adequate manpower and machinery at all vulnerable spots along NH-44 from Nashri to Banihal to ensure the smooth flow of traffic and timely response to any incident.

  • Deputy Commissioner chairs meeting to finalize Muharram arrangements in Poonch

POONCH: Deputy Commissioner Vikas Kundal today chaired a meeting to review and finalize the arrangements for the Muharram. The meeting was convened to ensure that all necessary facilities and services are in place for the Muharram processions and congregations. Representatives from religious organizations present in the meeting highlighted required measures with regard to procession routes, special congregations, uninterrupted power and water supply, road repairs, deployment of security personnel, medical and ambulance availability, public address systems, ration and LPG distribution, traffic management, sanitation, functioning of street lights and provision of water tankers.

Responding to the demands, the Deputy Commissioner directed the Poonch Municipality and Municipal Committee Surankote to ensure thorough cleanliness in towns and congregation venues. He instructed the Chief Medical Officer to make arrangements for adequate medical and emergency services during Muharram processions and at Imambargahs.

The Public Health Engineering Department and Power Development Departments were directed to ensure continuous water and electricity supply to religious sites and procession venues. They were also asked to deploy water tankers as needed. The Deputy Commissioner emphasized the importance of maintaining close coordination with community leaders and civil society to ensure a peaceful and respectful observance of Muharram.

Additional SP Poonch assured that comprehensive security arrangements would be made, including the deployment of adequate police personnel at all key locations. The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Additional SP Poonch, Chief Medical Officer, Executive Engineers of PWD (R&B), Jal Shakti, JPDCL, ARTO, DIO, Tehsildars of Haveli and Mandi, AD FCS&CA, officers from other line departments and prominent civil society representatives of Poonch.

  • Free Medical Camp held at Gagra Gool

RAMBAN: Health Department organized a comprehensive two day free Medical Camp at Gagra, Gool, catering to the healthcare needs of the local population. Over 650   patients received medical consultations and free medicines, with Haemoglobin and Diabetes Mellitus testing facilities, and screening for Tuberculosis (TB) and Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs).

The Camp was organized by the BMO Gool Dr. Ashfaq Hassan in line with the directions of DDC Chairperson Ramban Dr. Shamshad Shan and MLA Banihal Sajjad Shaheen. 

The BMO consulted nearly 500 patients, while other doctors attended to a significant number of patients. Local representatives and senior citizens expressed gratitude to the team of Health Department for providing specialized care at their doorstep. BMO Gool also interacted with senior citizens and addressed their concerns.

KISHTWAR: The ongoing 15-day Intensive Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) Campaign under the Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gramin Utkarsh Abhiyan (DAJGUA) entered its third day with unwavering momentum in District Kishtwar, reinforcing the mission of holistic tribal empowerment and inclusive rural development.

An extensive Awareness and Benefit Saturation Camp was organized TODAY A Camp at MS Ajna, Panchayat Sunna Bhata, Block Nagseni, drawing active participation from the local tribal populace. The campaign is being systematically executed across 19 Gram Panchayats of Kishtwar district to ensure saturation of all flagship government schemes and services in tribal areas.

Highlights of the camp included awareness sessions on DAJGUA objectives and impact, distribution of IEC material of different departments to beneficiaries, informative stalls by Government Departments showcasing welfare schemes, awareness drives on PMAY survey and ground-truthing exercises, scheme briefings from departments including Agriculture, Horticulture, Health, ICDS, Social Welfare, Revenue, Sheep Husbandry and others.

A plantation drive was also carried out on the occasion led by the Forest Department in collaboration with other departments to promote ecological stewardship. The camp also featured interactive sessions between district officials and community members, enabling real-time grievances redressal, service gap identification and fostering deeper engagement.

Tribal residents expressed profound gratitude for the initiative, acknowledging the government’s commitment to grassroots empowerment and pledging their continued cooperation throughout the campaign period.

  • DC Samba reviews anti-flood preparedness measures

SAMBA: Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Sharma today chaired a crucial meeting here in the Conference Hall to review and assess anti-flood control measures in view of the upcoming monsoon season.

The DC emphasized the need for coordinated efforts, quick response mechanism and inter-agency preparedness to mitigate flood-related risks and ensure the safety of life and property. He directed all departments to remain on high alert and submit updated contingency plans and resource inventories.

The session concluded with a detailed discussion on vulnerable zones, emergency response protocols and public awareness strategies. The meeting witnessed the active participation of ADDC Champa Devi, ADC Jagdish Singh & senior officers from civil administration, representatives of BSF, NDRF and officials from concerned departments.

  • Mission YUVA: DLIC Jammu approves 16 Venture proposals

JAMMU: District Level Implementation Committee (DLIC) meeting for Mission YUVA was conducted today to accelerate youth entrepreneurship initiatives in the district, with a focus on empowering young aspirants to become successful entrepreneurs and contribute to the economic development of Jammu and Kashmir.

Deputy Commissioner Sachin Kumar Vaishya chaired the meeting where 16 applications (Venture proposals) under Mission YUVA were thoroughly scrutinised, evaluated and subsequently approved. The meeting was part of the ongoing efforts to strengthen the implementation of the entrepreneurship development scheme in the region.

The meeting witnessed the participation of senior district officers including Additional District Development Commissioner Sher Singh, Deputy Director Employment Sunaina Saini and LDM Romesh Chander along with other committee members.

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Sachin Kumar Vaishya emphasised the importance of Mission YUVA in fostering entrepreneurial spirit among the youth and creating opportunities for sustainable employment generation. He highlighted that the programme aims to support young entrepreneurs through various interventions including skill development, financial assistance and handholding support.

  • Mission YUVA: Rajouri hosts vibrant Entrepreneurship Mela to empower youth, ignite startups

RAJOURI: The District Administration Rajouri, in collaboration with the District Employment & Counselling Centre (DE&CC), organised a one-day Potential Entrepreneurship Mela under the flagship Mission YUVA programme today. The event was held at the Dr. Raj Kumar Thapa Memorial Conference Hall and witnessed an overwhelming turnout of more than 500 individuals, including over 350 aspiring entrepreneurs from different parts of the district.

The event was presided over by Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Sharma and attended by Assistant Commissioner Revenue Jhangir Khan, District Employment & Statistics Officer Sandeep Sharma, Deputy Director Employment Mohammad Nawaz, ACD Aqil Naveed, Nodal Officer JKEDI, Functional Manager DIC, Lead District Manager, Chief Agriculture Officer, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer and others. Their presence highlighted the administration's commitment to nurturing an entrepreneurial ecosystem in the district.

The Deputy Commissioner interacted with participants, inspected the departmental stalls and urged the youth to actively leverage the government schemes aimed at fostering entrepreneurship. He reiterated that youth empowerment through sustainable livelihoods remains a central priority of the district administration.

One of the key highlights of the programme was the motivational interaction with local successful entrepreneurs, who shared their personal journeys, challenges and achievements. These stories offered practical guidance and served as an inspiration for the budding entrepreneurs present at the event.

Addressing the gathering, Deputy Director Employment, Mohammad Nawaz informed that 178 applications have already been received under Mission YUVA from across the district, reflecting growing enthusiasm among youth to take up entrepreneurial ventures. He commended the efforts of the Employment Office and the Yuva Doots for their continuous mobilization and handholding of potential beneficiaries.

The Mela also featured active participation from Self-Help Group (SHG) members, Yuva Doots and representatives from Skill Building and Development Units (SBDU) and Business Hubs for Development (BHD).

Dedicated stalls by the line departments showcased the self-employment schemes, eligibility guidelines and financial support mechanisms. On-the-spot counselling and registration facilities were provided by the Employment Department for interested participants.

  • ADC reviews pre-revision training of BLOs at Nowshera

NOWSHERA: To ensure meticulous preparation for the upcoming electoral roll revision, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Nowshera, Pritam Lal Thapa today visited the Government Degree College (GDC) to oversee the pre-revision training of Booth Level Officers (BLOs) from Tehsils Nowshera and Qila Darhal under Assembly Constituency 84.

The training session was conducted by District Level Master Trainers (DLMTs) and Assistant Level Master Trainers (ALMTs), who provided comprehensive guidance to BLOs on key aspects of the pre-revision activities of the electoral rolls, including data verification, error rectification and voter awareness protocols.

He also interacted with BLOs and Supervisors, taking stock of the training process and providing on-the-spot instructions to ensure strict adherence to guidelines issued by the Election Commission. He stressed the importance of accuracy, timeliness and diligence in executing electoral duties.

  • Yoga Sessions organized across Rajouri as a prelude to International Day of Yoga-2025

RAJOURI: In line with the action plan of the Department of Youth Services and Sports, a series of Yoga sessions were conducted today across all fifteen zones of the Rajouri district as a prelude to the International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2025, being celebrated under the theme "Yoga for One Earth, One Health."

The field staff of the department, including Physical Education Lecturers (PELs), Physical Education Masters (PEMs), Physical Education Teachers (PETs), Rehbar-e-Khel (REKs) and National Youth Corps (NYC) volunteers, enthusiastically organized yoga sessions at public parks and community centers. These sessions were aimed at encouraging students, youth, and the general public to adopt yoga as a part of their daily routine and to generate widespread awareness about its physical, mental and environmental benefits.

The district-wide initiative saw active participation from all age groups and witnessed a positive response from local communities. The event is part of a week-long prelude that began on June 15 and will continue till June 20, culminating in the grand celebration of International Day of Yoga on June 21.

  • RAC approves 22 rent cases at Doda

DODA: Deputy Commissioner Harvinder Singh today chaired the meeting of the District Rent Assessment Committee held in the Mini Conference Hall of the DC Office Complex to review and finalize rent   for various government departments operating from rented accommodations.

The meeting was attended by Chief Planning Officer, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Superintending Engineer PWD (R&B) Circle, Tehsildar and district officers from departments including Agriculture, ICDS, Police, PWD, Education, Health, Motor Vehicles, Handloom, NRLM, Food & Supplies, Revenue and others.

Each department presented its rent proposals, supported by documentation related to property conditions, rent rates and space requirements. After title verification, due scrutiny of site conditions, ownership documents, structural integrity and utility of the premises,  a total of 22 rent proposals were approved by the Committee. The Deputy Commissioner instructed all departments to expedite the pending cases by ensuring the submission of complete, site-specific documentation and verification reports.  

  • Dharti Aaba Janbhagidari Abhiyan Awareness Camp held at village Chachal

RAMBAN: Dharti Aaba Janbhagidari Abhiyan awareness and saturation camp was today held at Village Chachal in Panchayat Karwah, Block Banihal, to empower tribal communities by providing access to government schemes and services.

The camp saw enthusiastic participation from the local Scheduled Tribe (ST) population. Senior officers and field-level officials from government departments briefed the attendees on welfare schemes related to livelihood, skill development, education, social security and self-employment.

Officials addressed several public grievances on the spot, while others were documented for timely follow-up by the concerned departments. The officers emphasized the need to ensure that no eligible ST household is denied benefits of government welfare programs.

The Dharti Aaba Janbhagidari Abhiyan awareness camps are being organized across 11 identified ST villages in Ramban district and will continue till June 30, 2025. The initiative aims to promote inclusive development and participatory governance through grassroots-level outreach. Local residents expressed gratitude to the administration and hoped that such initiatives would lead to meaningful socio-economic development in tribal areas.

  • ARTO Doda conducts enforcement drive

DODA: In line with the directions of the worthy Transport Commissioner, Vishesh Paul Mahajan and under the close supervision of Deputy Commissioner Doda, Harvinder Singh, the team from the ARTO Office Doda carried out a focused traffic enforcement drive in the district. The drive was led by ARTO Doda, Maneet Sharma conducted at strategic points including Doda–Ghat Road and Doda–Dessa Road.

As part of the crackdown on traffic violations, approximately 170 vehicles were thoroughly checked during the operation. The enforcement team identified multiple violations of Motor Vehicles Act provisions, ranging from driving without valid documents to improper vehicle conditions and overloading.

A total of 27 vehicles were e-challaned during the drive, resulting in fines amounting to ₹42,500. The action aimed to ensure road safety, discipline among drivers and strict adherence to the law. The ARTO Doda team has reiterated its commitment to maintaining traffic order and warned that such drives will continue across the district in the coming days.

Citizens and vehicle owners have been urged to comply with traffic regulations, carry valid documents and maintain roadworthy vehicles to avoid penalties and ensure the safety of all road users.

JAMMU: Chief Engineer (Distribution) JPDCL Jammu has informed that the shutdown of 11 KV C7 and C8 Feeders emanating 2x10 MVA R/Station Canal, 33KV Jourian and 33KV Tanda Lines emanating from 132/33KV GSS Akhnoor along with all  associated 11KV feeders scheduled for June 18 is hereby cancelled.

BUDGAM: Speaker, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Abdul Rahim Rather, today conducted an extensive tour of Charar-i-Sharief constituency in Budgam district.

The Speaker reviewed the progress on various ongoing developmental projects and had a first-hand appraisal of the pace and quality of work. He emphasized the importance of expediting the execution of these projects to ensure their timely completion.

As part of his outreach efforts, the Speaker held public interaction programmes at Kargoom and Palpora, where he met with the local residents and listened to their concerns and demands.

  • DLIC Ganderbal approves 12 cases under Mission YUVA scheme

GANDERBAL: In a significant push towards promoting youth entrepreneurship and self-employment, District Level Implementation Committee (DLIC) Ganderbal, under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Jatin Kishore, today approved 12 cases under the Mission YUVA (Yuva Udyamita Vikas Abhiyan) scheme.

The meeting, held in the VC Room of the DC Office, was convened to scrutinize and approve applications received under the Mission YUVA scheme, which aims to provide financial assistance and support to aspiring young entrepreneurs of the district.

At the outset, concerned officials presented a detailed overview of the applications received from the Single-Window Business Development Units (SBDUs). After comprehensive discussion and deliberation, the Committee approved 12 eligible cases for further financial and entrepreneurial support.

Addressing the meeting, DC underscored the importance of Mission YUVA in empowering the local youth through entrepreneurship and skill development. He directed the District Employment and Employment Centre to ensure wider outreach and maximum participation of local youth in the scheme so that more individuals can benefit from the opportunities being provided under self-employment generation initiatives.

The approval of these cases marks a step forward in the district’s continued efforts to cultivate a thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem and reduce unemployment among the youth.

  • DC Kupwara chairs NCORD meeting, directs to intensify IEC activities

KUPWARA: To review the progress made to curb the drug abuse in Kupwara district, a meeting of District Level Committee of Narco Coordination (NCORD) was held today under the chairpersonship of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan at DC Office Complex, here.

At the outset, DC took a detailed appraisal from concerned members of NCORD Committee regarding the present scenario of drug related occurrences, various issues related to menace of drug addiction, its control and rehabilitation and areas of concern.

DC meticulously reviewed the implementation of the measures taken and progress achieved to eliminate drug abuse and its peddling in the district. Ayushi took feedback from the members of the Committee who presented the latest report related to action taken against drug-addiction and drug trafficking in the district.

She also emphasized the Officers including Enforcement agencies for identification and close vigil of entry points, hot spots of drugs, public places and abandoned buildings.

Similarly, DC also laid thrust on further intensifying IEC campaigns (seminars, rallies and other programmes on the harmful effects of drug menace) at school and college levels to sensitize students and common masses about ill-effects of drugs and close coordination between Health, Education and other line departments.

DC meticulously reviewed the functioning of Drug De-addiction Centre Kupwara and Addiction Treatment Facility Centre (ATFC) Handwara, and stressed for upscaling of the therapeutic management and proper counselling of the drug addicts which can help them to come out of the menace.

She emphasized the need for providing self-employment opportunities to the drug victims who have recovered so that they can live a dignified life in the society.

The DC said in order to combat this rising societal problem, multi-pronged Rehabilitation, Counselling and Guidance policy is indispensable to be implemented on ground to monitor drug abuse and take remedial measures to curb the menace so that sufferings of the drug-affected persons are mitigated.

The meeting among others was attended by ADC Kupwara, Gulzar Ahmad; ACR Kupwara, ASP Kupwara, ASP Hanwara, CMO Kupwara, Medical Superintendent DH Handwara, DEPO, Assistant Drug Controller, Tehsildars, besides other concerned Officers.

  • DC Shopian visits Kanjiuller block; inspects dev. works and educational institutions

SHOPIAN: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Shishir Gupta today conducted an inspection of various ongoing developmental works being executed by the Rural Development Department (RDD) in the Kanjiuller block. DC visited Kanjiuller and Pudsoo Panchayat halqas and inspected road network and drainage projects.

He also took stock of the physical progress of the works at village Kanjiuller, and interacted with field functionaries and locals. He also assessed the quality of execution on the ground and issued instructions for expediting the pace of ongoing developmental activities to ensure timely completion. He stressed BDO for maintaining transparency, ensuring geo-tagging of works, and adhering to quality standards in all works under execution in the area.

DC was accompanied by ADDC, Dr. Nasir Ahmed Lone, ACR, BDO and other officers from the RDD and other line departments during the inspection. Later, DC also made a surprise inspection of GHSS, Kanjiuller and took stock of basic amenities, especially potable drinking water facilities being provided to the students. He also emphasized the maintenance of cleanliness in and around the school and interacted with students and staff for better education outcomes.

SRINAGAR: Director FCS&CA Kashmir, Dr. Owais Ahmed chaired a review meeting today to evaluate the stock position of foodgrains/ Petroleum products, Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2025 and overall functioning of the department. Director emphasized that the Bonafide rationees get their monthly entitlement timely without any delay by way of ensuring timely completion of procurement process besides timely lifting of food grains and making the same available at the sale centres

“Timely execution is crucial for the implementation,” Dr. Owais remarked, while reviewing the progress of various developmental works being executed by the department. He underscored the importance of regular follow-ups and detailed progress reports to maintain accountability and transparency in the department.

The chair was also apprised about the status of Shri Amarnathji Yatra 2025, and it was directed that both the Assistant Directors Ganderbal and Anantnag shall ensure installation of camps at all the stations in next 02 days. Dr. Owais expressed confidence that with coordinated and focused efforts, the department can deliver timely services to the general public. BARAMULLA: Director Panchayati Raj, Jammu and Kashmir, Sham Lal today visited various blocks of Baramulla district to assess the status of Panchayat infrastructure and review the functioning of Common Services Centres (CSCs). As part of his field tour, Director conducted detailed inspections of Panchayat Ghars and CSCs in Singhpora and Pattan blocks.

The sites covered included Singhpora Panchayat Ghar and CSC, as well as Panchayat Ghars located at Gund Ibrahim-A, Palhallan-E, and Nehlpora-A and B. At Singhpora, Sham Lal reviewed the Model Common Services Centre and assessed the functionality of the Panchayat Ghar. Highlighting the importance of well-functioning infrastructure in ensuring effective governance, he issued firm directions for the resolution of land-related issues that are delaying the construction of several Panchayat Ghars.

He instructed the Assistant Commissioner Panchayat (ACP) Baramulla to prioritize the resolution of land identification challenges from both the 2023–24 and 2024–25 phases, stressing the need for close coordination with the Revenue department to fast-track the process and ensure all pending projects are completed in a time-bound manner.

Director also emphasized the need to expedite the co-location of additional rooms and CSCs, directing officials to make these facilities functional at the earliest. During his visit to Palhallan-E Panchayat Ghar, he instructed Panchayat Secretaries to install the Gram Panchayat Report Card generated through the Panchayat Assessment Index (PAI) portal and display it through informative banners for public viewing.

In a capacity-building effort, Sham Lal conducted a hands-on training session on the Panchayat Assessment Index and encouraged Panchayat functionaries to stay well-versed with its features and indicators. Highlighting the role of Panchayat Learning Centres (PLCs) as community hubs, Director called for their transformation into comprehensive one-stop centers, fully equipped to serve rural residents.  He also underlined the importance of effective communication and public awareness regarding the services available at these centres.

BUDGAM: As part of the ongoing Dharti Aabha Abhiyan, a unique outreach initiative aimed at achieving cent percent saturation of 25 flagship schemes across 17 departments, a Gram Sabha was held today for the third consecutive day at Panchayat Ladden, Block Nagam of district Budgam.

All 17 line departments actively participated in the Gram Sabha, engaging with the local population and highlighting the benefits and eligibility criteria of various central and UT-sponsored welfare schemes, particularly those catering to the tribal population and other marginalised sections of society.

The outreach initiative was met with a warm reception by the public, who appreciated the door-to-door and Panchayat-level campaign aimed at ensuring that no eligible beneficiary is left out. Notably, a surge in enrolment for multiple Government welfare schemes was observed during the event.

The day-long programme featured a range of activities by all line departments, with officers and field-level staff ensuring active public engagement. ANANTNAG: The ongoing 15-day Intensive Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) campaign under the Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gramin Utkarsh Abhiyan (DAJGUA) continued robustly on Day 3rd in Anantnag, marking another significant stride towards the comprehensive upliftment and empowerment of tribal communities.

The campaign was conducted at various locations including Hiller Shahbad, Dachnipora, Larnoo, Chittergul, and Bijbehara, where large-scale Awareness and Benefit Saturation Camps were organized.

This campaign, as part of a Union Territory-wide initiative, aims to ensure the complete outreach and saturation of government welfare schemes across all tribal regions. The event witnessed overwhelming participation from the tribal populace, highlighting the community's eagerness to engage in developmental processes and avail of government entitlements.

During the campaign, on-spot services were provided to ensure immediate and effective benefit delivery to eligible beneficiaries. Key services delivered included the issuance of Aadhaar Cards, PMJAY Golden Health Cards, Domicile Certificates, Caste Certificates, and other essential documents.

  • Strengthening Farmer–Scientist linkages for sustainable agricultural growth

SHOPIAN: Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan (VKSA) 2025, a nationwide initiative of the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare in collaboration with ICAR and the department of Agriculture, concluded successfully in the district.

The campaign, which commenced from 29th May till 14th June, aimed to enhance farmer awareness about advanced practices in agriculture, horticulture, livestock, and fisheries, while promoting government schemes and collecting grassroots feedback for policy formulation.

Coordinated at the district level by Dr Zaffar Afroz Badri, Senior Scientist & Head, KVK Shopian, and Mohammad Rafiq, CAO Shopian, the campaign witnessed robust participation across all 9 blocks of the district, covering every village and engaging over 10,000 farmers through daily outreach by multidisciplinary teams.

The campaign promoted soil health cards, judicious use of fertilizers, package of practices for Kharif crops, and modern orchard management, including high-density apple plantations and scientific spray schedules.

Farmers were educated on natural and organic farming methods, fruit drop management, value addition through branding, and emerging technologies such as drone usage and waste segregation.

Field demonstrations and expert consultations helped address local challenges, while farmer feedback called for inclusion of apples under crop insurance and MSP, subsidies for hail nets and cold storage facilities, real-time weather advisories, and revival of market intervention schemes.

The campaign significantly deepened scientist–farmer relationships, documented field-level innovations, and reinforced the national vision of Viksit Bharat ensuring no farmer is left behind. VKSA 2025 in Shopian stands as a model of convergence, coordination, and commitment to inclusive and sustainable agricultural development.

  • NMBA: Municipal Committee Handwara holds awareness programme

KUPWARA: Municipal Committee Handwara, in collaboration with various stakeholders, organized a comprehensive awareness program today at Town Hall Handwara under the nationwide ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan’ (NMBA). The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from senior citizens, students, officials, healthcare professionals, and members of civil society.

The primary objective of the program was to raise awareness about the alarming consequences of drug addiction and to mobilize community support for a drug-free society. Students from multiple schools actively engaged in thought-provoking discussions, sharing their views on the social and psychological impacts of substance abuse and highlighting the significance of youth-led awareness.

  • Empowering local entrepreneurs: PMFME scheme awareness camp held at Shopian

SHOPIAN: Department of Horticulture Planning and Marketing, Shopian, today organized an awareness programme on the Prime Minister’s Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) scheme at Bohrihallan Heerpora, Shopian.

A large number of potential entrepreneurs, especially women Self Help Groups (SHGs), actively participated in the event, showing great enthusiasm toward self-employment opportunities in the food processing sector. The programme was attended by the Area Marketing Officer Shopian, along with his field staff, LDM, CLF Head, and DRP- PMFME scheme.

Speaking on the occasion, Assistant Grading and Marketing Officer (AGMO) Shopian addressed the gathering and highlighted the objectives and potential of the PMFME scheme in enhancing local micro food processing units.

He informed the participants that the scheme offers a 35% credit-linked capital subsidy with a maximum ceiling of Rs10 lakh for individual units, along with seed capital support of Rs 40,000 per member for SHGs and producer cooperatives.

It also includes assistance for branding, marketing, and capacity building, with dedicated handholding support to units established under the scheme. LDM elaborated on the procedures to be followed during the sanctioning of cases by banks and explained the importance of proper documentation.

On-spot registration of many interested women entrepreneurs was carried out during the programme. District Resource Person provided a detailed explanation of the application process and shared guidance on documentation and formalities required for availing the scheme benefits.

  • Awareness workshop on PMFME organised at Bijbehara

ANANTNAG: An awareness workshop under the Prime Minister Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) scheme, also known as the ‘One District One Product’ (ODOP) initiative, was organised today at Bijbehara Block in Anantnag district.

The event, conducted by the District Nodal Agency- Deputy Director, Fisheries Anantnag in collaboration with other allied line departments, as part of the ongoing ODOP initiative, aimed to inform and encourage students, local entrepreneurs, self-help groups (SHGs), and small-scale food processors to leverage the benefits of the PMFME scheme, launched under the Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan.

Experts from the Agriculture, Horticulture, School Education, and Fisheries departments briefed the participants about the PMFME scheme and other government initiatives offering employment generation and entrepreneurship opportunities. During the camp, over 30 participants registered on the spot. Students from Government Higher Secondary School (Boys), Bijbehara, also took part and expressed interest in establishing or upgrading micro food processing units in the future.

This event marked the third in a series of five awareness programs scheduled in the district, in line with the district’s objective of promoting the PMFME initiative across all blocks.

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Director Fisheries Anantnag, said that the PMFME scheme is designed to formalise and strengthen the unorganised micro food processing sector in India by providing financial, technical, and business support to both existing and new enterprises.

“In our district, we have already established more than 50 small-scale food processing enterprises with credit linkage of over Rs.3 crore, and more than five units with credit linkage exceeding Rs.0.50 crore in this constituency alone,” he said.

He further stated that by organising such awareness workshops and camps, district administration aims to empower local entrepreneurs and contribute meaningfully to the region’s economic development.

  • Training session on ‘Pension Suvidha’ Portal for Electronic Pension Processing conducted at Bandipora

BANDIPORA: In a major push towards digital governance and in line with the directions of the Director General Accounts & Treasuries J&K, District Treasury Office Bandipora today conducted a comprehensive training programme on the newly launched Pension Suvidha portal for Drawing and Disbursing Officers (DDOs) at the Conference Hall, Mini Secretariat Bandipora.

The training programme was held to facilitate the transition to electronic processing of pension cases of retiring government employees through the Pension Suvidha software application, developed by the Jammu & Kashmir Government in collaboration with the Accountant General (A&E) and NIC.

District Treasury Officer Bandipora, briefed the participants about the key features and benefits of the new system. He emphasized the importance of timely and error-free pension case processing and urged all DDOs to ensure full compliance with the new digital procedure.

During the session, the officers were guided on various aspects of the portal including login procedures, uploading of documents, digital verification, and submission of pension cases through the online platform.

District Treasury Officer informed that the implementation of the Pension Suvidha Portal will bring greater transparency, efficiency, and speed in pension-related matters and will benefit both departments and retiring employees alike. He also stressed that similar follow-up training and support sessions will be organized to address technical queries from field offices.

PULWAMA: District Treasury Office Pulwama today successfully conducted a training programme for Drawing and Disbursing Officers (DDOs) of the district, focusing on the operationalization of the Pension Suvidha Portal. The initiative was held in accordance with the directions of the Director General Accounts & Treasuries, Jammu and Kashmir.

The training session, held at the Auditorium Hall of Government Degree College (Boys), Pulwama, witnessed participation from DDOs and dealing assistants of various Govt. Offices operating under the District Treasury Pulwama.

Programme aimed to enhance the understanding and capacity of the officers with respect to the newly launched Pension Suvidha Portal, designed to streamline pension-related processes and promote transparency and efficiency.

District Treasury Officer Pulwama highlighted the significance of digital transformation in public financial management. Participants were given a detailed orientation on various features and functionalities of the portal, followed by a practical demonstration.

On similar lines, parallel training programmes were also held at all Sub-Treasuries across the district. These sessions ensured uniform sensitisation, capacity building, and readiness among all Drawing and Disbursing Officers (DDOs), thereby laying a strong foundation for the seamless district-wide implementation of the Pension Suvidha Portal.

  • Awareness prog. on Environmental Conservation held at Kulgam

KULGAM: District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Kulgam, organised an awareness programme on environmental conservation today at Al Hilal Residential Institution, Chawalgam.

The event, held under the chairmanship of Aijaz Ahmad Khan, Chairman, DLSA Kulgam, witnessed the participation of Fozia Paul, Secretary, DLSA Kulgam; officials from DLSA, LADCs, and PLVs; staff members of the host institution; and a large number of students.

The comprehensive program commenced with an enlightening awareness session on yoga delivered by Dr. Rozy, Medical Officer, AHWC Gho Brahmna, followed by an engaging demonstration and practice of the Common Yoga Protocol. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from government officials, staff members and citizens from across the district.

  • DC Reasi finalises arrangements for International Yoga Day-2025 celebrations

REASI: In preparation for International Yoga Day scheduled on June 21, a meeting of stakeholder departments was convened today to finalise the necessary arrangements.  Deputy Commissioner   Nidhi Malik chaired the meeting.

As per the plan, a Mega Yoga Session will be organised at General Zorawar Singh Sports Stadium in wee hours to mark the global celebration of Yoga and promote its numerous health benefits among the general public. Similar events will be held at the subdivision level, in colleges, schools and at potential tourist spots.

Speaking at the meeting, DC Nidhi Malik directed the Department of AYUSH to make all arrangements well in time like arranging yoga mats, T-shirts, deputing qualified yoga instructors to lead the sessions. The Health Department was instructed to ensure the presence of medical staff and ambulances at all venues for emergency support. She also directed XEN PHE to keep available an adequate drinking water facility for participants, while the EO MC will oversee sanitation arrangements.

All SDMs were instructed to make the necessary arrangements to celebrate the day in their jurisdictions to ensure wide reach and participation. The Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned departments to begin the execution of their respective responsibilities well in advance. She emphasised the importance of inter-departmental coordination and mass participation to make the event a grand success.

  • Work on PMGSY project resumed by resolving dispute

POONCH: The construction work of Sailan to Marha Bridge PMGSY road has been resumed after the resolution of a dispute that caused significant delays in its completion.  Some residents had obstructed the project due to land-related issues, halting road work despite the bridge's successful completion in March 2025.

In response to the situation, the Deputy Commissioner Vikas Kundal took decisive action by directing the revenue department to extend necessary support to the PMGSY engineering team. The intervention effectively addressed the dispute, allowing road construction to recommence.

The local community has expressed gratitude to the district administration for resolving the long-standing issue. The resumption of work is anticipated to greatly enhance connectivity and improve infrastructure in the region, benefiting all residents.

KISHTWAR: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Pankaj Kumar Sharma today chaired a meeting to assess the progress achieved in the implementation of the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP) and the Credit Link Schemes. At the outset, Nodal Officer HADP & Chief Agriculture Officer (CAO) Kushal Chandail presented a detailed report outlining the achievements and current implementation status of HADP initiatives across the district.

The DC emphasized the need for accelerated execution and wider public outreach, directing field officers to redouble their efforts. Underlining the importance of organic farming and its potential as a revenue-generating model, the DC instructed officials to organise mass awareness campaigns and engage with the community including religious heads of all communities to promote HADP schemes with a cluster-based approach.

The review also covered the physical and financial progress in key allied sectors such as Horticulture, Fisheries, Sheep Husbandry and Animal Husbandry. The DC set new targets and urged line departments to work in coordination to ensure Kishtwar district ranks among the top-performing districts in the UT under HADP.

He also set targets for enhanced registrations on Daksh Kisan Portal and Kisan Sathi Portal and directed focused awareness on millets promotion as part of the CAPEX 2025-26 action plan.

Further, a detailed review of Credit Link Schemes was undertaken including Agricultural Infrastructure Fund (AIF), Animal Husbandry Development Fund (AHDF), Agriculture Loan Fund (ALF), PMFME and National Livestock Mission (NLM). The DC emphasized a holistic and mission-mode approach to increase uptake and impact.

  • DC Kishtwar reviews arrangements for Urs of Shah Farid-Ud-Din (RA)

KISHTWAR: Deputy Commissioner Pankaj Kumar Sharma today convened a meeting of the line departments to review the arrangements for the Urs of Shah Farid-Ud-Din Sahib (RA), scheduled on June 21, 2025.

The DC inquired about the measures initiated for logistic and civic amenities including the provision of accommodation for visiting devotees, power and water supply, firewood, ration, LPG, sanitation, security, medical care, transportation, fire tender services and overall traffic management. He issued a slew of directions to the concerned departments.

SSP Kishtwar assured that comprehensive security arrangements will be put in place during the Urs celebrations. The DC directed the XEN, Jal Shakti, to ensure the availability of sufficient drinking water for devotees/Ziareens at all shrines and at Biat-Ul-Ziareen, with a backup provision of water tankers.

The DC also directed the EO Municipal Council to carry out repair and replacement of non-functional streetlights in the town and adjoining areas of the shrines, and in the Chowgan ground to facilitate hassle-free movement of devotees. He also emphasized cleanliness around both shrines and stressed the lime lining of roads leading to them.

 Additionally, the ARTO, DTI and police administration were instructed to devise a proper transport plan, arrange additional buses for the smooth to-and-fro movement of pilgrims, and manage traffic and vehicle parking effectively.

The JPDCL was directed to ensure uninterrupted power supply at both shrines and the accommodation areas for Ziareens, with provisions for generator sets as backup. The Deputy Commissioner also directed for setting up of a Joint Information Dissemination Booth by the Civil Administration and Police to spread awareness, provide information and facilitate public announcements.

Representatives from the Auqaf Kishtwar and Sajada-e-Nasheen (from both shrines) apprised the DC of various issues. The DC listened attentively and issued necessary directions on the spot, assuring them of full support from the administration. Necessary directions were also given to the FCS&CA, Health Department, Fire and Emergency Services for making efficient and adequate arrangements.

  • DC inspects, reviews working of offices in District Headquarter Complex Kishtwar

KISHTWAR: Deputy Commissioner Pankaj Kumar Sharma today conducted an extensive inspection of the Mini Secretariat, New DC Office Complex, reviewing ongoing departmental operations and engaging directly with staff to understand their work and challenges.

The DC visited all three blocks of the Mini Secretariat and assessed the functioning of the departments, interacted with officers and employees and took stock of the issues being faced by them.

He emphasized the importance of prompt public service delivery, professional conduct and a people-centric approach. A significant part of the inspection focused on cleanliness and the upkeep of the Secretariat premises. The DC issued on-the-spot directions to ensure hygienic working conditions and stressed that a clean environment enhances both productivity and public trust.

He assured the staff that genuine administrative and infrastructural concerns would be addressed in a timely manner. He also encouraged them to maintain efficiency, discipline and accountability in their daily operations. The DC was accompanied by ADC Pawan Kotwal, ACR Idrees Lone, PO ICDS Rishi Kumar Sharma, Dr. besides other officers.

  • DDC Reasi reviews implementation of agriculture & allied sector Credit-Linked Schemes

REASI: District Development Commissioner (DDC) Reasi, Nidhi Malik convened a comprehensive review meeting today to assess the progress of the agriculture and allied sector credit-linked schemes. The meeting was attended by functionaries of stakeholder departments and representatives from banking institutions

The meeting focused on the performance matrix, sanctioning, and disbursement status of key schemes, including the Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Enterprises (PM-FME), PM-KISAN, Kisan Credit Card (KCC) and the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund (AIF).

The DDC emphasized the vital role of banks in supporting farmers by ensuring hassle-free and timely credit disbursement, which is crucial to achieving the district’s agricultural development goals.

DDC Reasi Malik inquired about the number of pending cases under the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP) and sought clarification on the reasons for pendency in the AIF scheme. She also directed the Agriculture Department to organise special training sessions for KKGs to enhance their understanding and outreach capabilities.

Further, the DDC instructed to widely circulate the calendar of upcoming awareness camps, ensuring transparency and public participation. She directed the Agriculture Department to organise awareness camps in Mahore and other areas to inform the local population about various schemes and how to avail the benefits of the same. The meeting was attended by CPO Reasi Narinder Kumar, CAO, CHO, CAHO, DSHO, Cluster head and other concerned officers.

BHADARWAH: A meeting to finalize the arrangements for 11th International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2025 was convened today in the Office Chamber of the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Bhadarwah.  

Speaking at the meeting, the ADC Bhadarwah, Sunil Bhutyal emphasized the importance of coordination among all departments to ensure the smooth, inclusive and impactful observance of the event. It was decided that the main celebration will take place at Gatha Park, Bhadarwah, while concurrent yoga sessions will be organized at Government Degree Colleges, identified tourist destinations, Vibrant Villages and Amrit Sarovars.

The ADC urged all departments to mobilize maximum public participation, especially involving school children, college students, youth clubs, PRIs, Self Help Groups (SHGs) and civil society members.  Detailed discussions were held regarding logistics, including sanitation, security arrangements, medical facilities, sound system setup and media coverage to ensure the program’s success.

The meeting was attended by the District Ayush Officer Doda, Divisional Forest Officer, Tehsildar Bhadarwah, Block Development Officer, Block Medical Officer, Executive Officer Municipality, Zonal Education Officer, Dr. Akhtar Hussain (Professor, GDC Bhadarwah), Dr. Ifthakar Ahmed (Ayush Department, Bhadarwah) and other officers and representatives from various departments.

POONCH:  Deputy Commissioner Vikas Kundal chaired a meeting today to assess the functioning of the Animal Husbandry and Sheep Husbandry Departments in the district. Earlier, the DC flagged off Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) vaccination drive here from the District Veterinary Hospital.

At the outset, the departmental functionaries provided comprehensive updates on the initiatives for promotion of Dairy Development, Poultry Development and Artificial Insemination. The Deputy Commissioner emphasized the importance of effective grassroots implementation to ensure that the benefits of these programs reach every eligible beneficiary.

Key discussions included the status of the DAKSH Kissan Portal, with directives for increasing farmer enrollment and timely course completion. The Deputy Commissioner also reviewed milk and egg production in the district, while highlighting the need for timely execution of Foot and Mouth vaccination rounds.

In pursuit of financial inclusivity, progress on Kisan Credit Card (KCC) saturation in Dairy and Poultry sectors was evaluated, setting the target of 100% coverage of farm-operating families. The Deputy Commissioner called for aggressive awareness campaigns regarding the National Artificial Insemination Programme (NAIP) to educate livestock owners on its benefits.

The Deputy Commissioner directed the sheep Husbandry officers to focus on field activities like dipping and vaccination. The establishment of first aid camps along migratory routes was stressed to ensure timely veterinary support to nomadic breeders.

In closing remarks, the Deputy Commissioner urged both departments to meet their financial year 2025–26 targets systematically, stressing the need for robust awareness campaigns and interdepartmental coordination for effective service delivery to the grassroots.

  • Doda: Dharti Aaba Janbhagidari campaign held at Village Bhakhna Dhal Khankir- Gundana block

DODA: As part of the ongoing Janjatiya Gaurav Varsh and under the banner of Dharti Aaba Janbhagidari Abhiyan—India’s largest tribal outreach and empowerment campaign—a special awareness and benefit saturation camp was today organized at Village Bhakhna Dhal Khankir, Block Gundna today.

The programme was presided over by the Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Din Mohammad Affaqi. In his address, the ADDC encouraged the tribal community to avail maximum benefit from the services provided under the campaign.

The departmental stalls set up at the venue offered vital information and on-the-spot services related to flagship schemes such as PMAY (G), MGNREGA, NRLM, Ayushman Bharat (PMJAY), Post-Matric Scholarships, Kisan Credit Card (KCC) and the Forest Rights Act.

The camp also featured awareness sessions, health check-ups, on-the-spot registration for job cards and health cards and assistance for various beneficiary-oriented schemes. Local residents interacted directly with departmental representatives to resolve their queries and concerns. The event concluded with a cultural tribute to Bhagwan Birsa Munda, celebrating tribal traditions through music and folk performances.

  • Reasi all set to roll out SMILE Scheme for rehabilitation of vulnerable children

REASI: In a significant step towards ensuring a life of dignity for marginalized individuals, Reasi is poised to become the second district in Jammu and Kashmir after Srinagar to implement the SMILE (Support for Marginalised Individuals for Livelihood and Enterprise) scheme. Deputy Commissioner Nidhi Malik has emphasised on swift implementation of SMILE Scheme for tackling begging with compassion and opportunity.

Launched by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment on February 12, 2022, the SMILE scheme focuses on the rehabilitation, reintegration and empowerment of beggars, helping them transition into mainstream society through structured support. The Ministry has identified 50 districts, towns, cities and locations. Holy Katra town of the District Reasi, the base camp of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi yatra is one of them.

A key Project Approval Committee meeting, chaired by Deputy Commissioner Nidhi Malik was held recently to scrutinize applications from NGOs interested in implementing the scheme. Out of the three applications received, Prayas Juvenile Aid Centre Society secured the highest score based on the selection criteria established by the Ministry. Its project proposal was approved following a detailed review and presentation, which outlined a comprehensive plan including a baseline survey and subsequent rehabilitation efforts.

During the meeting, District Social Welfare Officer Sachin Sharma provided an in-depth briefing on the scheme’s objectives and implementation strategy. Prayas NGO shared their vision for the Reasi district, detailing a phased approach to bring vulnerable individuals back into the social fold through education, skill-building and livelihood opportunities.

Speaking at the meeting, DC Nidhi Malik stated, “We are committed to launching the SMILE scheme in Reasi in the coming weeks. Addressing the issue of begging is an urgent need and it is equally important to provide genuine support to those in need, helping them secure a dignified means of living.”

DC Nidhi Malik further emphasized that a proposal to implement the scheme in Srinagar had previously been submitted and successfully approved by the Government of India. “Special provisions will be made for children found begging — they will be enrolled in schools to ensure their education and holistic development,” she added.

The scheme also includes measures to identify and dismantle organized begging rackets. “Our goal is not only to eliminate begging but also to empower individuals affected by it through vocational training and sustainable livelihood opportunities,” Ms. Malik remarked.

With the rollout of the SMILE scheme, the District Administration of Reasi aims to adopt a holistic approach, focusing on social reintegration and the overall well-being of marginalized individuals.
