JAMMU: Gandhi Shilp Bazaar, a 7 day exhibition of exquisite Handicraft and Handloom productsconcluded on in Jammu Haat, Dogra Chowk. This marketing event was organised by the Office of the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, Handicrafts Service Centre,Jammu. Sh. Gulam Abbas, Director, Central Bureau of Communication was present as Guest of Honor to felicitate the artisans, craft demonstrators and different cultural teams.
The concluding programme was conducted by Ms. Disha and Sh. Vishnu Bharti. The gathering was addressed by Smt. Ambika Sambyal, Assistant Director, HSC Jammu and vote of thanks was given by Sh Anirudh Kapil, Sr. Assistant Director, HSC Jammu
In this sale cum exhibition of handicrafts and handloom products 50 artisans and weavers from various parts of India exhibited their craftsmanship by displaying their products for sale in Jammu Haat w.e.f. 11/10/2024 to 17/10/2024. The Exhibition presented different crafts from different regions spanning from bamboo,Jute, Dry Flower and Embroideries and Madhubani painting from Bihar and West Bengal, Kasuti Sarees from South India, Gujarati embroideries and patch work, Banarsi sarees, Stone Carving, Zari Zardosi from Uttar Pradesh, Woodware and Art Metal Ware from Rajasthan, Phulkari, Wood Inlay and Jutties from Punjab, Kullu Shawls to crafts like terracota, candle, Handblockprinting etc from different parts of the country.
Apart from this Local crafts of Jammu and Kashmir were also on display like Basohli shawl, pashmina Shawls, Kashmiri Embroideries, Basohli Painting, Binna craft etc. Such type of Exhibition known by the name Gandhi Shilp Bazaar nationwide is first of its kind in Jammu Haat and was admired and appreciated by the visitors. The event was a great success and celebration of diverse Indian crafts under one roof which promotes the idea of Make in India and vocal for local.
