JAMMU: The Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Smriti Nyas, Jammu Kashmir, organized an insightful seminar commemorating the 75-year journey of the Indian Constitution. The event, held at the Conference Hall of GGM Science College, Jammu, saw dignitaries, scholars, and citizens come together to reflect on Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s vision for a modern and inclusive India.
The seminar was graced by Chief Guest Sat Sharma (CA), President of BJP J&K and a former minister. The Guests of Honour Sh. Yudhvir Sethi, MLA from Jammu East was also present. GGM Science college Principal Professor Romesh Gupta, NSS Coordinator & Assistant Professor Dr Neha Sharma & Assistant Professor Dr Lokinder Singh assisted in the successful completion of the event.
The keynote address was delivered by Sh. Lal Singh Arya, National President of SC Morcha BJP & Ex Cabinet Minister of Madhya Pradesh, who highlighted the foundational principles laid by Dr. Ambedkar and their relevance in shaping a progressive India. Under the theme “Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar’s Vision for Modern India,” the event underscored Ambedkar’s contributions to democracy, social justice, and equality. It also served as a platform to discuss challenges and opportunities in fulfilling the ideals enshrined in the Constitution.
Sat Sharma Reflects on India’s Journey Through Struggles and Contributions of Visionary Leaders. BJP Jammu and Kashmir President Sat Sharma, in his address, shed light on the 200 years of hardship India endured under British rule, emphasizing the resilience and sacrifices of the people that shaped the nation’s destiny. Sharma highlighted the pivotal role played by leaders like Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and Shyama Prasad Mukherjee in strengthening the democratic and constitutional framework of modern India.
“Dr. Ambedkar’s contributions in drafting the Constitution ensured social justice and equality, while Shyama Prasad Mukherjee’s sacrifices for Jammu and Kashmir’s complete integration remain etched in history,” Sharma remarked. He urged the youth to draw inspiration from these great leaders and actively participate in nation-building. The BJP leader reiterated the party’s commitment to preserving the unity and integrity of the country and building a future rooted in the ideals of equality, justice, and development.
Yudhvir Sethi Highlights the Transformation in J&K Post-Abrogation of Article 370. He emphasized the profound changes and benefits Jammu and Kashmir have experienced since the abrogation of Article 370. Addressing a gathering, Sethi pointed out the various disadvantages faced by the region under Article 370, which hindered its economic growth, social integration, and development.
He noted that the special status created a sense of isolation, preventing the full application of progressive laws and schemes that benefited the rest of the nation. “With the abrogation of Article 370, Jammu and Kashmir has been fully integrated into the Indian Union, paving the way for equal opportunities, development, and stability,” Sethi stated. He highlighted key initiatives that have brought substantial improvement in infrastructure, education, health care, and employment, further underlining the region’s path to prosperity.
Sethi urged citizens to collectively work towards strengthening Jammu and Kashmir and making it a model of development for the nation. Organized by BJYM President Arun Prabhat, the seminar marked a significant step in reigniting discussions about India’s constitutional journey and its relevance in modern times. The event concluded with participants reaffirming their commitment to uphold the values of justice, liberty, and equality in every sphere of life.
