JAMMU: As part of the Swachhata Hi Seva 2024 campaign, Central University of Jammu organized three impactful events, addressing key pillars of the national movement: Swachhata Mein Jan Bhagidari, Sampoorna Swachhata & Swachhata Lakshit Ekayi, and Safai Mitra Suraksha Shivirs. The events aimed at fostering community engagement, promoting cleanliness, and ensuring the welfare of sanitation workers.
Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. Sanjeev Jain commended the efforts of the organizing team and praised the university's commitment to the Swachh Bharat Mission. The campaign was spearheaded by the Nodal Officer, Prof. Richa Kothari, who emphasized the importance of community-driven initiatives for a cleaner and healthier environment.
The first event, coordinated by Lt. Dr. Pankaj Mehta under the Swachhata Mein Jan Bhagidari pillar, featured an insightful lecture entitled "An interactive session on Effective Compost Management by SHS Team Members at Central University of Jammu under Swachhata Hi Seva 2024 (SHS-2024) campaign." where he educated the audience on sustainable composting techniques and the importance of waste management in achieving a cleaner society.
The second event, organized under the Safai Mitra Suraksha Shivirspillar, was a health camp coordinated by Prof. Ritu Bakshi and Lt. Dr. Pankaj Mehta. The camp provided essential health checkups for the university's sanitation workers, acknowledging their vital role in maintaining cleanliness and ensuring their well-being.The third event, also under the Safai Mitra Suraksha Shivirspillar, was coordinated by Dr. Nancy Mengi. This session focused on mental health awareness among sanitation workers (Safai Mitras), offering support and resources to enhance their mental well-being, recognizing the emotional and psychological challenges they face in their daily work.
The Fourth event was coordinated by Lt Dr. Pankaj Mehta under pillar three (Safai Mitra Suraksha Shivirs) as an awareness drive on "10 Golden Rules of Food Security Production". It was conducted by the team members of SHS-2024 at the Central University of Jammu. NCC Cadets of 4 J&K Bn, NCC distributed pamphlets on 10 Golden rules of Food Security production and Governmental schemes related to social welfare under the theme "Swabhav Swachhata, Sanskaar Swachhata”. Through the drive a message was conveyed to all the Safai Mitras about the best cleanliness and hygienic practices to be followed to avoid the outbreak of diseases.
All the sessions were in vernacular language so that each person present over there can understand the message. At the end a pledge was taken by all the participants and organizing members that they will adopt best hygienic practices in their day to day life activities.
