JAMMU: The national cleanliness campaign has evolved into a grassroots movement, encompassing activities like spring cleaning, historic site preservation, discussions, and rallies. NYKs in J&K and Ladakh UTs are spearheading numerous initiatives across all district blocks in both UTs.

In Udhampur, Nehru Yuva Kendra in coordination with Govt Hr Sec School, Marta, to organize a cleanliness and plastic eradication drive. Prior to the event, Arya Youth Club on boarded the students on MY Bharat portal. Volunteers collected over 50 kilograms of plastic, which was later disposed of properly. All participants took the Swachhata Pledge. Additionally, poster making, wall painting, and tree plantation activities were held.

A pad Yatra involving 100 participants carrying posters was conducted in Block Nagrota of Jammu, in collaboration with Sun Shine High School. The program was presided over by Mr. Parvez, SHO Nagrota, with Smt Shaveeta President and other members of Mahila Mandal led the rally.

In the Kashmir Division, cleanliness drives were conducted in Fakir Gujri village by NYK Srinagar in collaboration with MY Bharat Volunteers. NYK Budgam organized a cleanliness drive at High School Khan Sahib with the support of the Education Department and other Youth Club Members . NYK Baramulla and NYK Pulwama identified neglected garbage points with the assistance of NGOs.

In the UT of Ladakh, Nehru Yuva Kendra, Kargil, partnered with the Rural Educational & Developmental Organization to organize a cleanliness drive in Gasgond village of Drass block. The initiative was part of the Swachhata hi Seva Campaign, which also included a cleanliness drive and Swachhata rally. NYK Leh conducted an oath ceremony and cleaned the campus of Gaymang High School, Leh. Smt Tajamul Ara, Deputy Director Leh, urged participants to implement regular cleanliness drives and manage waste effectively to mitigate environmental and health risks. Kits comprising of diaries, pens, and caps with the MY Bharat logo were distributed to participants in the Kashmir Division of J&K UT and Ladakh UT.
