COIMBATORE: Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham inaugurated the Amrita International School of Law (AISL) at its Coimbatore campus on Thursday. The school was inaugurated by Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal, Minister of State Ministry of Law and Justice (Independent Charge) and Minister of Parliamentary Affairs. In his address, he said, “Artificial Intelligence cannot apply constitutional morality. As we enter an era of Artificial Intelligence, 3D printing, and the Internet of Things, it is important to remember that the ultimate deciding factor in our lives will always be the human element guided by values.”

Justice K.R. Shriram, Chief Justice of the Rajasthan High Court, joined as Guest of Honour, while Justice L. Victoria Gowri, Judge of the Madras High Court, delivered the keynote address. Swami RamakrishnanandaPuri, Treasurer and Trustee of Mata Amritanandamayi Math and Member of the University’s Executive Council, delivered the benedictory address.

The ceremony began with the inauguration of AISL’s new Moot Court Hall and academic facilities. Dr. Anil G. Variath, Dean of AISL, welcomed the gathering, and Dr. P. Venkat Rangan, Vice Chancellor, presented mementos to the dignitaries. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. P. Ajith Kumar, Registrar. Adding to the significance of the occasion, the Attorney General of India, R. Venkataramani, shared a visionary message noting that the long-pending vision of establishing AISL had now come to fruition.

Dr. Ranjan was a rare and noble soul—humble, compassionate, intellectually brilliant and always willing to help others. A visionary thinker, he believed in using knowledge and abilities to make a meaningful difference. His influence lives on through the people he guided, the work he inspired and the countless lives he touched.

For me, he will always be the elder brother who believed in me and guided me with affection. I will cherish his kindness and lessons forever. May his soul rest in eternal peace. He will be deeply missed and never forgotten.

We at JK Monitor are profoundly saddened by the sudden demise of our Founding Chairman, Dr. Priya Ranjan. IN LOVING MEMORY Dr Priya Ranjan

A brilliant mind who studied at Netarhat Residential School and graduated in Electrical Engineering from IIT Kharagpur before earning his PhD from the University of Maryland, Dr. Ranjan chose to return to India and dedicate his life to teaching, research and social good.

His pioneering work in networked systems, AI, robotics and biomedical applications—especially computer-vision tools for early detection of cancer and heart disease—reflected his deep belief that advanced technology must serve humanity.

For more than 15 years at JK Monitor, he remained a loyal friend, mentor and collaborator, marked by rare humility, intellectual integrity and quiet generosity. His passing leaves a void that cannot be filled. Priya, you will be deeply missed. Your life continues to remind us that knowledge finds its highest purpose in the service of others.
