DODA: The healthcare scenario in Doda district was today reviewed by Director Health Services Jammu Dr Rakesh Magotra here at a meeting of Health department officers. The DHS Jammu was on his maiden visit to Doda. The meeting served as a platform to assess the progress and effectiveness of various healthcare schemes and to strategise the way forward to enhance healthcare in the district.

At the outset, Chief Medical Officer Dr Om Kumar gave a detailed presentation regarding the activities of the health department. The Director Health Services reviewed all the activities of the health department and enjoined upon the staff to work cordially in making all GOI schemes successful on the ground, so that better and accessible health care facilities were provided to the people at their door steps.

Discussions were also held on vaccination given to the Pregnant Women, newly born children in the District. The Director asked to ensure that each pregnant woman and newborn be given all the necessary vaccination and services at the time of birth on priority basis. Regarding the increase in institutional deliveries at block level, the Director asked the BMOs to put in their best to utilize the services of ASHAs to motivate the pregnant ladies to go for institutional & safe delivery. Emphasis was also laid on immunization, antenatal check up and wide awareness about family planning methods.

The participants were also directed to hold regular awareness camps at panchayat levels to educate the masses regarding various health sector schemes. The blocks with low performance were directed to review their work done and overcome shortfalls for proper implementation of centrally sponsored schemes. Moreover, the DHS Jammu directed the Chief Medical Officer and BMOs to put in extra efforts to achieve targets laid down under each programme.

The DHS urged upon health functionaries to come up to the expectations of the patients and focus on quality, assured, accessible, affordable health care in the district. Further, he said that punctuality of staff as well as maintaining hygienic conditions in health facilities is indispensable, and lackadaisical approach in this regard will not be tolerated.

Earlier the DHS Jammu Dr Rakesh Magotra on reaching Doda was accorded a warm and rousing reception by the staff and students of ANMT Doda. Those present in the meeting were MS GMC Doda Dr Tanveer Hussain, BMO Bhaderwah Dr Mohd Ashraf, BMO Gandoh Dr Ghansham Singh, BMO Ghat Dr Abdul Gafoor, I/c BMO Assar Dr Anil Kumar besides Incharge Schemes (All), DPMU and BPMUs NHM & other officials of the department.
