JAMMU: On the concluding day of Fire Service Week, 2024, number programmes were organized at Range and Command Headquarter level today. The main function of the concluding day of Fire Service Week was held at Fire & Emergency Services Headquarters Gandhi Nagar here, which was presided over by Director (ADGP), Fire & Emergency Services J&K, Alok Kumar.

Addressing the gathering, the Director appreciated the officers and jawans for conducting the week long activities in a befitting manner. He stressed upon all the officers and jawans to continue the awareness programmes through out the year to create ‘Har Ghar Fire Fighter’ to minimize the losses during fires. The Director also appreciated the role of Medical Officers of department as well as doctors from various medical specialities in conducting free medical camps besides first aid training to jawans.

On the occasion, an Essay and drawing competitions were held in which 29 students from eight different schools of Jammu participated. The theme of the competition was “Ensure Fire Safety- Contribute towards Nation Building”.

Samradhi, a 6th class student of Mahavir Jain School, Rani Park Jammu secured 1st position and was awarded cash prize of Rs. 1500/- and a trophy. 2nd prize of Rs. 1200/- was bagged by Vanshika Thakur, 7th class student of Oriental Higher Secondary School Kachi Chawni while as 3rd position with cash prize of Rs. 1000/- was secured by Suhani, a 9th class student of Bal Bharti Public High School Channi Himmat.

The Director distributed cash and awards among the winners and participants. He also awarded trophies and certificates to winning as well as runner up teams of Volley Ball, Tug of War, Ladder drill and Fire Tender drill. A cultural program was also held at F&E headquarters Gandhi Nagar, here.

The officers and officials of various Commands on the pledged to continue the awareness programmes as per the guidelines and directions. Deputy Director, Medical officer, Accounts officer, Assistant Director and other officers besides office staff and jawans were also present on the occasion.
