JAMMU: Central University of Jammu contributed in the implementation phase as a part of the SCDPM (4.0) by organizing an Ecogiri event, in which the student's work showcased during the event was outstanding. This event received appreciation from Students, Faculty and University employees who all were given a chance to buy these environment friendly products and help in revenue generation which will be used in the next Ecogiri event.
The event was inaugurated by esteemed guest Shri K.N. Raghunandan, Organising Secretary of Vidya Bharati Uccha Shiksha Sansthan. In his opening remarks, Shri Raghunandan commended the initiative, highlighting the need for similar activities to be organized at a national level to enhance environmental consciousness. Honorable Vice Chancellor, Prof. Sanjeev Jain appreciated the event as well as the impacts of related exercises on tidiness and sustainability within the campus.
He also insisted on students’ involvement in the management of the environment by undertaking these activities at a regular interval. The coordination of this impactful event was led by Prof. Richa Kothari, Nodal Officer, alongside Dr. Neeta Rani. Both received accolades from Dean of Life Sciences, Prof. Sunil Dhar and Prof. Deepak Pathania, Dean Research Studies for their efforts in fostering such meaningful engagement.
The Department of Environmental Sciences was well-represented, with faculty members Lt Dr. Pankaj Mehta, Dr. Shweta Yadav, Dr. Dinesh Kumar, and Dr. Ankit Tandon to support the initiative. The event of Ecogiri has proved that this innovative initiative in CUJ created awareness about environmental issues and sustainable environment for students and faculties of the university.
