KISHTWAR: In an initiative to combat tuberculosis (TB) and improve public health, the Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Rajesh Kumar Shavan today inaugurated the BCG vaccination drive for adults at the District Tuberculosis Centre (DTC) Kishtwar under the Aegis of the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP).
The introduction of the BCG vaccine for adults (18+Years) is aimed at strengthening immunity against tuberculosis among vulnerable populations. Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized the importance of such initiatives in achieving the goal of the 100% TB-free District. The DC stated that the program underscores governmentâs commitment to addressing health challenges at the grassroots level and ensuring accessible healthcare for everyone.
He further urged the public to actively participate in the campaign and avail themselves of the benefits of this vaccination drive. CMO Kishtwar reiterated the importance of the vaccine in reducing TB cases and urged everyone, particularly those at risk, to avail them of the free vaccination. The vaccination drive saw an enthusiastic response from the public on its launch day at the District Tuberculosis Centre in Kishtwar.
Assistant Commissioner Development, Phulail Singh; Tehsildar Nirbhay Sharma; Chief Medical Officer (DTO), Dr. Rajinder Kumar; District Immunization Officer (Immunization), Dr. Sajjad Hussain; Block Medical Officer Kishtwar; staff of District Tuberculosis Centre and other concerned staff were present on the occasion. The campaign will continue across the district, ensuring access to the vaccine and raising awareness about TB prevention.
