Gojri Mushaira and folk music concert at Poonch

POONCH: Radio Kashmir Jammu has embarked upon an ambitious journey of taking Radio to the very door step of its listeners since last few months. In its endeavour to do so Radio Jammu has started a series of poetic symposiums and music concerts at various locations in the region including, Rajouri, Nud, Samba, Gurha Slathia etc. Radio is the only mass media that reaches every household of the state, but these programmes are meant to physically take the artists and the presenters of radio Jammu to its listeners and perform in front of invited audience. Apart from educating and entertaining the listeners, such ventures also give them a sense of belonging for the organization.

Amidst continuous unexpected rain, the choicest poets of Gojri language showered their immaculate poems in the Gujjar Hostel at Poonch in today’s Mushaira and enthralled the crowd with their vision, insight and craftsmanship of the language. The event started at 11 A:M with the inaugural remarks by the Station Director Radio Kashmir Jammu Sh.V.K.sambyal. Mr Sambyal, briefly stated the motif behind such programmes and rededicated the Public Service Broadcaster to its audience spread far and across and also stressed upon the need of new fresh talent to use the forum of AIR to take their talent to every nook and corner of the State and the Country. The stage was then taken over by the immensely popular presenter of Gojri Programme, Mr Hassan perwaz who one by one called the performing poets on the stage to set the Mushaira in action.

Radio Kashmir Jammu is also taking the help of literary and other social organizations in such ventures to broaden the umbrella of its reach and also to bring many more people under its fold .Logistic support was given by Poonch Station of All India Radio. Today’s programme was held in collaboration with Anjuman Taraqi Gojri Adab Poonch and eminent poets took part in the event.

From patriotism to the love of the language, from conservation to the protection of environment, from empowerment through education and cleanliness, varied topics were taken up in the poems by an eminent gathering of poets that included, Haji Nazir Bhatti, Sikander Hayat Tariq, Babu Noor Mohammad Noor,Khalid Hussain Qammer, Abdul Ghani Pardesi, Atta Ullah Shad, Riyaz Ahmad Sabir, Abdul Hameed Anees, FatehMohd. Abbassi, Mohd. Jehangir Asger. Nikhat Choudhary, Nazir Hussein Nazir, Mukhtar Majaz, Bashir Lohar and others.

Though the rain did not stop for a single moment since early hours of Sunday morning, but the event on Monday had a break for an hour followed by Folk Music concert. The audience were all hooked up to their seats and the artists who enthralled the crowd with their melodious music and compositions included, Bashir Mastana with his famous KUKOO, Aiyaz Saif, Kartar Chand and Party, Gulzar Ahmad Chouhan, Imtiaz Ahmed and party, Mohd.Rafi, Khursheed Rather and Muzamal Shah.

The officials of the civil administration, prominent citizens and people from all walks of life attended the event in large numbers and everyone appreciated this unique and noble venture of Radio Kashmir Jammu. Programme Executives Nitish Arora, Rajesh Gupta and Sanjeev Sharma and Music Composer Sh. Harish Kaila from Radio Kashmir Jammu co-ordinated the entire programme.  Efforts like this go a long way in not only promoting the indigenous language and culture but harnessing the new potential and providing them with a National platform.
