The Survival Fight of JK Monitor : For 16 years, JK Monitor has chronicled Jammu and Kashmir with integrity. Since 2010, I have steered its newsroom alongside our visionary Founding Chairman, Dr. Priya Ranjan (IIT Kharagpur alumnus, University of Maryland Ph.D.), who treated me like a brother and mentor. His tragic demise in October 2026 left a severe financial and operational vacuum. Without urgent support, our 24/7 news portal risks permanently shutting down after November 2026, remaining only as a static digital archive. We appeal to well-wishers to extend a helping hand to keep our active newsroom alive. Support Us: WhatsApp: +91-9906103001 | Email: journalistajmerwani@gmail.com
  • Meets several deputations, individuals; asks for speedy redressal of public grievances

POONCH: Minister for Jal Shakti, Forest, Ecology & Environment and Tribal Affairs, Javed Ahmed Rana, on Wednesday conducted an extensive tour of Mendhar and presided over a public darbar held to address the grievances and developmental issues of the local population. On the occasion, scores of delegations comprising employees, common citizens from different areas and departments met the Minister to apprise him of their grievances and demands. The delegations raised collective and individual issues and sought their early redressal.

The issues raised by the delegations pertained to welfare schemes, public utilities, better drinking water facilities, firewood, health, roads, tribal issues and other developmental issues. While giving patient hearing to grievances brought into his notice by various delegations and individuals, the Minister assured them that all their genuine issues would be examined for prompt redressal. He also issued on the spot directions to the concerned officers to take cognisance of the issues pertaining to their departments.

Emphasising the need for transparency and accountability in the governance process, Javed Rana said that these are the two cornerstones that connect the people closer to the government and make the decision making more effective and inclusive. He directed the officers of the district administration to switch over to proactive mode to address people’s developmental issues. He further asked them to conduct field visits to ensure grievances are addressed effectively.

During the darbar, the Minister also sought on the spot response from the concerned officers present during the public darbar. Present in the public darbar included Executive Engineer, STD Kalakote, Executive Engineer, Jal Shakti, Poonch Superintending Engineer, Jal Shakti Poonch, ACP Poonch, SDM Mendhar AEE Jal Shakti, Poonch and other officers from the district.
