In loving memory of Dr. Priya Ranjan: A mentor who treated me like family

SRINAGAR: In a story of extraordinary grit and talent, a young athlete from J&K has served an ace on the national stage. NASIR AEJAZ SUFI, a student of a Government School, has been selected to represent India in the prestigious U-15 Boys World Volleyball Championship scheduled to be held in China.

This remarkable achievement follows rigorous, nationwide special trials conducted by the School Games Federation of India (SGFI). Nasir’s journey from the courts of J&K to the international arena underscores the potential nurtured within the public education and sports system.

The final selection was cemented in Pune, after which Nasir underwent intensive training at a national coaching camp in Ranchi, Jharkhand. His foundational skill and technique were honed right here in J&K under the expert guidance of the Department of Youth Services and Sports’ talented coaches, Azhar Raina and Naresh Kumar.

The coaches were acting on the instructions of Anuradha Gupta, Director General of the Department of Youth Services and Sports, J&K, who emphasized providing the best possible training to the budding talent. Nasir's selection stands as a true example to this focused effort and the athlete's unwavering dedication.

The entire hierarchy of the Directorate of Youth Services and Sports, J&K, including the Director General, Deputy Director Central, Joint Directors from both the Divisions, and the Deputy Director Activities, have extended their heartfelt congratulations to Nasir, his proud parents, and his dedicated coaches.

Officers expressed that this milestone is not an endpoint but a promising beginning. They voiced a strong hope that Nasir's success will pave the way and inspire countless other young athletes from J&K to dream big and represent the Union Territory and the nation on global platforms in the future.

This achievement is a powerful reminder of the sporting excellence residing in the youth of J&K and the transformative role of structured support and coaching by the Development of Youth Services and Sports J&K.
