Encourages staff to sustain momentum in quality healthcare initiatives

KATHUA: Deputy Commissioner Kathua Rajesh Sharma today felicitated healthcare staff for their exemplary performance in securing National Quality Assessment Certification, at a ceremony held in the DC Office complex here. The Deputy Commissioner appreciated the dedication and hard work of the teams, stating that such achievements reflect the district’s strong commitment towards delivering quality healthcare services.

Chief Medical Officer Dr Vijay Raina informed that the district has achieved 20 certifications so far, with an additional 8 certifications expected in the coming month. During the ceremony, the Block Teams including BMOs, MLHPs, staff and ASHA workers from Bannu Chak, Tarda and Jandore Hukmi were honoured for their outstanding contributions. Certificates were presented by the Deputy Commissioner in recognition of their efforts towards maintaining high standards in healthcare delivery.

Certificates were also given away to the qualified internal assessors for their role in strengthening the quality assessment process. The Deputy Commissioner further acknowledged the tireless efforts of the staff involved in preparing Primary Health Centre (PHC) Kharote for inauguration and felicitated them with appreciation certificates.

When he appointed me Editor-in-Chief of JK Monitor, he never treated me as an employee, but as a younger brother, offering warmth, trust, respect and invaluable guidance. I will always be grateful for his faith in me, his encouragement and the lessons he shared.

Dr. Ranjan was a rare and noble soul—humble, compassionate, intellectually brilliant and always willing to help others. A visionary thinker, he believed in using knowledge and abilities to make a meaningful difference. His influence lives on through the people he guided, the work he inspired and the countless lives he touched.

For me, he will always be the elder brother who believed in me and guided me with affection. I will cherish his kindness and lessons forever. May his soul rest in eternal peace. He will be deeply missed and never forgotten.

A brilliant mind who studied at Netarhat Residential School and graduated in Electrical Engineering from IIT Kharagpur before earning his PhD from the University of Maryland, Dr. Ranjan chose to return to India and dedicate his life to teaching, research and social good.

His pioneering work in networked systems, AI, robotics and biomedical applications—especially computer-vision tools for early detection of cancer and heart disease—reflected his deep belief that advanced technology must serve humanity.

For more than 15 years at JK Monitor, he remained a loyal friend, mentor and collaborator, marked by rare humility, intellectual integrity and quiet generosity. His passing leaves a void that cannot be filled. Priya, you will be deeply missed. Your life continues to remind us that knowledge finds its highest purpose in the service of others.
