- Focus on curbing narcotic trafficking, reinforce regulatory compliance
KATHUA: As part of ongoing activities under the Nasha Mukt JK Abhiyan, the District Administration Kathua in collaboration with District Police today conducted extensive inspections of medical shops and courier service establishments across the district to check illegal trafficking and misuse of narcotic and psychotropic substances.
The inspection drive was led by Additional Deputy Commissioner Vishavjeet Singh, along with DySP Headquarters Ravinder Singh, Assistant Controller Drugs and representatives from the RTO Office.
During the inspections, records related to sale and distribution of medicines was thoroughly verified with special focus on controlled and scheduled drugs. Surprise checks of incoming and outgoing consignments at courier service points were also carried out to detect any suspicious movement of prohibited substances.
Courier operators were sensitised regarding strict adherence to norms and were directed to maintain vigilance while handling consignments. The officers reiterated that any violation or involvement in illegal activities will invite strict legal action under relevant provisions of law.
The drive also focused on creating awareness among stakeholders about their role in preventing drug abuse and illegal trafficking, while urging them to extend full cooperation in the ongoing efforts to curb the menace.
