SRINAGAR: Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha administered the oath of office and secrecy to four newly inducted Ministers of the Jammu and Kashmir Council of Ministers at a swearing-in ceremony at Lok Bhavan on Tuesday. Chief Minister Shri Omar Abdullah was present.

The Lieutenant Governor administered the oath to MLAs Shri Ali Mohammad Sagar, Shri Altaf Ahmad Wani, Ms Shamim Firdous and Shri Saifullah Mir as Ministers.

Among those attending were Speaker of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Shri Abdul Rahim Rather; Jammu and Kashmir National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah; Deputy Chief Minister Shri Surinder Kumar Choudhary; Ministers Ms Sakeena Masood Itoo, Shri Javed Ahmed Rana and Shri Javid Ahmad Dar; and Member of Parliament Shri Gurvinder Singh Oberoi. Several other dignitaries and senior officials were also present.

The proceedings were conducted by Shri Govind Jaiswal, Principal Secretary to the Lieutenant Governor.

When he appointed me Editor-in-Chief of JK Monitor, he never treated me as an employee, but as a younger brother, offering warmth, trust, respect and invaluable guidance. I will always be grateful for his faith in me, his encouragement and the lessons he shared.

Dr. Ranjan was a rare and noble soul—humble, compassionate, intellectually brilliant and always willing to help others. A visionary thinker, he believed in using knowledge and abilities to make a meaningful difference. His influence lives on through the people he guided, the work he inspired and the countless lives he touched.

For me, he will always be the elder brother who believed in me and guided me with affection. I will cherish his kindness and lessons forever. May his soul rest in eternal peace. He will be deeply missed and never forgotten.

A brilliant mind who studied at Netarhat Residential School and graduated in Electrical Engineering from IIT Kharagpur before earning his PhD from the University of Maryland, Dr. Ranjan chose to return to India and dedicate his life to teaching, research and social good.

His pioneering work in networked systems, AI, robotics and biomedical applications—especially computer-vision tools for early detection of cancer and heart disease—reflected his deep belief that advanced technology must serve humanity.

For more than 15 years at JK Monitor, he remained a loyal friend, mentor and collaborator, marked by rare humility, intellectual integrity and quiet generosity. His passing leaves a void that cannot be filled. Priya, you will be deeply missed. Your life continues to remind us that knowledge finds its highest purpose in the service of others.
