JAMMU: In honor of Guru Purnima, the Akhil Bhartiya Rashtriya Shakshik Mahasangh (ABRSM), Agriculture University Jammu unit, organized a heartfelt program to celebrate the birth anniversary of Sage Vyasa, revered as one of the greatest Gurus in Indian culture. Dr. Ajay Kumar Singh**, the Guest of Honor, delivered an insightful address highlighting the significance of Guru Purnima. He explained that the word *Guru* in Sanskrit means âthe one who removes darknessâ and emphasized how gurus illuminate our paths with knowledge, wisdom, and guidance. Dr. Singh pointed out that Guru Purnima, celebrated on the full moon day of Ashadha, is not only a tribute to Sage Vyasa, but also a day for all disciples to express their gratitude for the invaluable teachings imparted by their mentors. "On this sacred day, let us strive to embody the virtues and wisdom imparted by our Gurus," he said.
The **Chief Guest, Dr. Jaspal Singh Warwal**, in his address, resonated with the importance of this day, describing the Guru as the remover of ignorance, much like the moon dispels the darkness. He emphasized that Guru Purnima is celebrated across Buddhism, Jainism, and Hinduism, marking a day of reverence for teachers who impart wisdom and guide their students. "Gurus are like candles, burning themselves to light the way for others," Dr. Warwal shared. He urged the gathering to honor their gurus, not just on this special day but every day, by following their teachings and acknowledging their sacrifices.
Dr. Amit Jasrota**, President of the Akhil Bhartiya Rashtriya Shakshik Mahasangh, Agriculture University Jammu, welcomed the participants and shed light on the evolving role of teachers in modern society.
