Advocate Rattan Lal Gupta, Provincial President of Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC), has strongly urged to the Government to expedite the long-pending cases under SRO-43 (Compassionate Appointment) scheme across Jammu and Kashmir. The Provincial President was speaking after paying floral tributes to Rohit Kerni, Youth NC leader on his fifth death anniversary at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhawan in Jammu.
Expressing serious concern over the inordinate delay, the senior NC leader said that the objective of SRO-43 is to provide immediate relief and support to the families of government employees or civilians who lost their lives in service or due to militancy-related actions. âIt is highly unfortunate that the families who are already suffering the trauma of losing their loved ones are being made to wait for years due to official apathy,â he stated.
Highlighting the alarming statistics, Rattan Lal pointed out that as many as 928 cases under SRO-43 remain pending. He said that no serious thrust has been given in the past decade to resolve these long-pending files, which defeats the very purpose of compassionate appointments. The senior NC leader urged the Government to take immediate cognizance and issue firm directions to all concerned Deputy Commissioners and Heads of Departments to fast-track the verification and processing of pending cases under SRO-43.
âThe system must ensure timely justice to the bereaved families by providing either employment or monetary relief, as laid down in the rules. Delays not only cause financial hardships but also deepen the emotional distress of the affected families,â he emphasized. The JKNC Provincial President reiterated that delivering justice to such families should be a top priority for any welfare-oriented government and assured that his party will continue to raise this humanitarian issue until all deserving families get the relief they are entitled to under SRO-43.
