UDHAMPUR: Under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Saloni Rai and overall supervision of District Child Protection Officer Kanika Gupta, the District Child Helpline Udhampur organised a series of programmes in government schools to promote awareness programmes on Child Rights and Child Helpline 1098 under Mission Vatsalya.
The program at High School Sattani focused on preventing social issues such as child marriage, child labor and child abuse. It also informed students about government scholarship schemes. CHL Counselor Pinky Pathania educated students on social evils and the importance of understanding good touch and bad touch. CWC member Sushma Devi discussed the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015, to inform students about their rights.
Project Coordinator Hari Krishan explained the 24-hour operations of the Child Helpline, which provides emergency support and connects children to necessary services. He encouraged students to report any drug-related activities through the helpline. The program concluded with the CHL team felicitating meritorious and Below Poverty Line (BPL) students under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao initiative.
